Metal Detecting can be fun and at the same time a nightmare due to the way the beach is always shifting, but if you hit it on a good day... BOOM! could be GOLD could be SILVER! Incredible. Metal Detecting is a good way of chilling out, its a good bit of therapy, fresh air, long walks. Its also a bit like those unboxing videos you see on youtube because even though you have an idea of what's buried below your feel you're never really sure. I've been Detecting with Deep Digger Dan during his digging the coast 365, that was fun. I used his XP Deus... Very light. I started out using the Garrett Ace 250 and then added a Nel Tornado coil. After that I started using a Nokta Makro Kruzer and some how managed to find so much more on land I thought had been detected to death. Silver coins, WWII badges and bullets and down the beach I've even found GOLD and Silver Rings. In my latest video I've finally found a Roman Coin and A Saxon Strap End. The sp24 coil is definitely not as deep as the stock coil. I've measured around 1.5" of difference on average depending on the target in question. So hopefully you can find your old stock coil so that you can give this an apples to apples comparison.

I would think the ultra would go deeper cause of adjusting the recovery speed alone in a lot of cases

Can you do same test with simplex lite vs ultra, I'm looking to get my first detector but I'm confused I thought the new simplex models are all supposed to be the same performance but just less settings features and Bluetooth etc but I've seen just awful reviews with the lite getting little to no signals, is this an update issue or they are completely different machines, I would really like to go with the 199 lite version so I can buy the other tools and accessories needed but will I be wasting time and money with the lite?

I think they will preform neck and neck with the stock coils on both units.

I can tell after doing my own testing that you didn't lower the recovery speed on the ultra because you would have gotten another couple inches of depth if you did. This is one big advantage of the ultra over the original simplex. Love the dirt box test though.

The test is not good. A detector doesn't work like that. It was designed to measure while pivoting, not while standing still. So the Ultra provides more performance in the settings if you increase the sensitivity of the search depth. The test weakens the ultra enormously
