But I promise if one of the stores or hotels in the historic districts did work and didn't get permission to do so that place would be shut down for weeks. You have to have someone from the historic district come and see the project and give them the ok and have to hire someone that's also approved. How are you the police chief and don't know that your city has a stockpile of these things ? This would have prevented things at least on Bourbon Street.

I've been saying since this happened that there needed to be barricades that prevented someone from driving up onto the sidewalks, and now we find out that they had them all along, but didn't KNOW they had them?? That's poor communication and poor planning. But, I've seen it before with NOLA during Katrina, so it doesn't surprise me much.

Look when law enforcement doesn't want vehicle traffic in the French Quarter you're not getting in. When there sre events Bourbon & Canal usually has more than one vehicle at that entrance to stop pll from even trying to drive down there. Also law enforcement is usually visible and not sitting in vehicles when blocking an entrance
