Come again Sweet love doth now invite Thy graces that refrain To do me due delight To see, to hear To touch, to kiss To die with thee again In sweetest sympathy Come again That I may cease to mourn Through thy unkind disdain For now left and forlorn I sit, I sigh I weep, I faint I die, in deadly pain And endless misery Gentle love Draw forth thy wounding dart Thou canst not pierce her heart; For I that do approve By sighs an d tears More hot than are Thy shafts, did tempt while she For scanty tryumphs laughs

I searched the web now for hours to find a good version of this song I love so much and had long forgotten. Every version was either too much of something or not enough. No one could quite get it right. But THIS is it. Thank you both for this wonderful recording. Your voice is so flexible and dynamic, the lute so tight and fine and it all is so perfectly together. The text so well interpreted and truly felt. Love it.

@@felang-9363 I do acknowledge that my words above seem to claim some objective truth where really they are nothing but an expression of real appreciation and my experience at that moment.. I also really liked the version you linked here. Had never heard of Russel Oberlin. Thanks :-)

Kathleen Battle and Chris Parkening recorded good version - but this one is quite amazing too. Especially for "bedroom" recording.

Loved the intimate setting, very much in keeping with the original domestic context in which these songs were meant to be heard. Would love to see/hear more of these!

You do this beautifully. A song that cries out to be "acted" instead of simply sung. You make me feel the words.

Brilliant. Who needs a grand setting when you have the gentle power of such a gorgeous voice from a lovely singer, and the great lute playing to boot in a simple living room of a house somewhere in the world ? Fantastic. More please

Nola Richardson is a talented classical soprano with a beautiful voice and a thorough knowledge of the musical styles of the classical period. Her voice, her temperament and her beauty make her have full potential to play the favorite singer of those great composers in movies and TV series about Hayden, Mozart or Beethoven.
