Drake was freestyling on street dvds and rhyming in ciphers underground hip hop spots back in the mid 2000s. One of Drake's best lyrical performances is a song called "Goodnight and Goodluck"(2006) which was a diss song to an of couple artists Young Jeezy signed to CTE. Dr.Dre heard a joint Drake did with Mickey Factz called "Overdose" in early 2008 and hired him to work on The Detox album and Drake started ghostwriting for Dr.Dre for the Detox, that's how Drake got introduced to the music industry before Wayne was in the picture. Drake's ability to spit bars, sing and write is why Wayne signed him to Young Money in the first place.
