One of the best lines in rock: “Sing with me, sing for the years, sing for the laughter, sing for the tears, sing with me, just for today, maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away”. There’s a reason these songs stand the test of time & are popular 50+ years later.

In 1975, Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler, then 27, began dating a 16-year-old girl named Julia Holcomb, whose mother signed over her guardianship to him. She soon became pregnant, but then their relationship went south. Their apartment caught on fire, and she ended up in a hospital, during which time Tyler forced her to have an abortion. “When I returned home to my mother, I was a broken spirit,” Holcomb recounted in a 2011 essay. “I could not sleep at night without nightmares of the abortion and the fire. The world seemed like a dark place.” At least the 11 year gap isn't that bad compared to other artists around the same generation.

I recall Aerosmith playing at the Stone Church in Newington, NH in the early to mid 70s. Place had a dirt floor. What a trip. Lot of groups played there. It was and experience to say the least. What I wouldn't give to turn back the clock and relive it all.

When we first heard these songs in the 70s and 80s most of us just enjoyed them without delving into the history or even concerning ourselves much with the meaning. We were just into the music. It throws me off when reaction videos focus so much on everything but the groove of the song. We weren’t on our cellphones we were living life and this music was just there .
