Meet Sao Ma, a determined young woman hailing from a rural community in #Cambodia. In her village, her brothers had to drop out of school by the 9th grade due to the considerable distance they had to travel. However, Sao Ma's unwavering commitment to education led her to sell surplus vegetables from her family's garden to fund her schooling. Her determination paid off, and by the time she reached the 12th grade, she not only passed her national exams but also earned a scholarship from Kampuchea Action to Promote Education (KAPE), a pivotal turning point in her life.
Today, Sao Ma is a college student living in the dormitories and actively pursuing a career in Public Administration. Her story is a testament to the transformative power of education.
KAPE, Cambodia's foremost educational NGO, firmly believes that quality education for young girls is not merely an opportunity but a fundamental right. As a long-term partner of The Asia Foundation, KAPE is actively bridging the gender gap in education in Cambodia, providing crucial support to girls as they journey through their schooling and transition into meaningful employment.
