Great video....a proper hands on pilot with several thousands of hours flying experience.....whoever sits in the right seat with him will gain so much knowledge.....the flying he has done....the things he has seen/experienced as a pilot in the "Wilds" of Alaska....wow!!!!

I used to fly North Central Airlines in the late '60s early '70s. Back in '70's, I think, I flew often from Chicago to Lansing, Michigan and back. This flight took us from Chicago to Milwaukee, Green Bay, across Lake Mi. to Grand Rapids, to Midland/Flint?, and finally to Lansing. I don't remember all the stops as I was always exhausted from the previous work week. Once, in Milwaukee I think, we were ready to take off, the pilots opened the throttles, and shortly thereafter the throttles closed and we came to a stop on the runway. Trucks then came out to de-ice our wings. Evidently, we had a problem getting airborn! Once we were de-iced, the old gal was ready to go! That's my memory of those buzzy, loud, but tough, Convair 580's.

Thank you for downloading! You make the best aviation videos. I feel like I am right in the cockpit. This video brings back many memories from my many visits to the Charlesvoix area (both winter and summer). My father bought a "summer house", in Saint Urbain, in the mid 90's. He and my mother moved there permanently in the late 90's. Used to see a lot of wildlife on his land such as bears and deer. Last time I visited was 2016 (father's funeral). Unfortunately I haven't been further north than Clermont. I absolutely love the Quebec region; people are very friendly and the food is superb. Spent a lot of time at Quebec Airport (being an aviation geek, or rather as an Aviathologist, as I call it) and still remember when Quebec Service Aérien still had Canso's in their fleet. Seen the CL-215s and 415s in real action around the Baie-Saint Paul area one summer, fighting smaller conflagration. Once again, please keep up the good! I shall keep on watching and salivating!

As a glider pilot, I never get into IMC conditions, so watching this awesome plane and pilot just go through there scares me be a bit. Reminds me to a couple of times the cloud thermals were so strong they sucked me into the cloud. I leveled out and tried to keep eye contact with the ground. Everything was fine, still a scary experience.

First Capt. I have heard on video speak of getting the aircraft on " the step ". Lot of pilots, usually with not much experience, argue there is no such thing. But over fifty years and flying 78 different models I can tell you every one flew better and gained a couple knots being on the step.
