When I hear this I imagine myself walking through the castle village watching all the people laugh and smile as they walk with each other passing booths of food and cloth. I'm walking in slow motion. I'm wearing a long light blue dress with white in the middle and a golden belt around my waist. My hair braided and a white scarf hanging down from my head. As the pace kicks up, I start running through the crowds, smiling and looking around me, seeing all the children play. I'm happy to be alive in this time. And then, when the song ends, it cuts to a rainy screen and I'm standing in the middle of the village once again crying surrounded by dead body's. I become sicker and sicker. And I finally lay with the rest of them. Dead. Because of the plague. So much emotion in this song

A song of love. It speaks of great aching pain, a desire to mend and to be in harmony with that someone. If you listen to the slowness or the tempo it's like he's trying to be careful with his grievances. Each step is a cautious one, one wrong step can spike his feet and make him cynical, sad, or even angry! He's taking it slow on purposes, carefully tip-toeing his way to the wisdom he needs to love, that's beautiful.

I've read all of the comments and this is really bugging me! It hasn't been confirmed that Henry VIII wrote this at all! According to legend, he wrote it for Anne Boleyn, but in actual fact it is more likely that this was written during the Elizabethan era, as it is an Italian style of music which didn't reach England until after the reign of Henry VIII. The true composer is unknown, and we will probably never know their identity- we can only guess!

I understand the OP very well. It also took me a hell of time to find it for the first time few years back, then forget its strange name having roots in ancient English folks classics, and again spending a lot of time to find it. The difficulty goes from the fact that this music is often heard in Christmas time so i thought this was Christmas song and tried internet search it by the appropriate possible lyrics. The masterpiece of musical genius Henry VIII.

Henry viii was an accomplished composer, but historians now believe it was most likely written in the Elizabethan era based on an Italian tune.

"What Child Is This?" is a popular Christmas carol written in 1865. At the age of twenty-nine, English writer William Chatterton Dix was struck with a sudden near-fatal illness and confined to bedrest for several months, during which he went into a deep depression. Yet out of his near-death experience, Dix wrote many hymns, including "What Child is This?", later set to the traditional English tune "Greensleeves."

I want too learn this song so badly! I play acoustic guitar, have a fascination with world history, and knowing this song was written in a Italian style, this is definitely a song I’m going too learn how to play. It sounds simple, but yet beautiful at the same time.

All that i could remember was that it began with green and then i thought greensheets so lucky i found it 🙏
