Now a New Yorker, Kalsang Lhasung, who is from a major nomadic region in Amdo (Tibet) -- Guide County in China's Qinghai Province -- describes the dramatic challenges faced by Tibetan nomads today due to sedentarization, barbed wire, and environmental change.

I have been interpreting for Tibetans with limited English proficiency over many years. Unfortunately I have a little to no knowledge of Amdo Tibetan language. This interview is fairly understandable, but I've encountered other Amdo speakers that I could not understand at all. Thanks for putting out this interview. Well done!

Interesting...stocking meat in the slaughtered animal's insides. When he says "we" I wonder how many people are being fed from 3 yaks and 10 sheep... . I also wonder about the function of dung as both a natural preservative and fuel... . I wouldn't mind seeing this process, of using dung for these purposes, in-person.
