Luka is 100% correct about the Ruby Ring. It's overused, overpowered (for how easy it is to get, and for the points) and a predictable auto take in seemingly every battle report, ever.

(Notwithstanding the Boar Boyz rerolling their charge distances...) the Wolf Rider's first charge should have included the Black Guard, as they would've been within 1" of the charging enemy (pg 118, pg. 130). Additionally, this would have resulted in a disordered charge (no charge bonuses for Wolf Riders) against the Black Guard. This is one of the inherent "checks and balance" against "line hammer".

dude being in combat specifically overrides this. It says so on the page you typed. and disordered doesnt negate charge bonuses, just no Initiative bonuses

I dont believe the hydra needed line of sight to pursue. You only need it to declare a charge, not to make the charge movement itself so it wouldve followed the boars normally. Also, the evil sun shinin' spells grants AP to weapons, no to the units. So impacts hits, fanatics and the like dont get the AP. This maybe was caught by the chat, but with the cuts i cant know XD

The only weakness they have is, that they really need to charge, because of 4 (!!!) rules, that only triggers in charge (choppas, cavalry spears, tusker charge and furious charge). But with good gameplay and positioning, this should be no prolem and because of counter charge, they cannot be outmanoeuvered so easy!

The cold ones might not have made that clutch 12, because they didn't pay for any wheel during that charge and they either went straight which looked to be further than 12, or they wheel which would be further than 12,l

This seemed like a really lopsided battle from the start. Huge units of boar-boys, god-loads of chariots against mostly infantry and a hydra that started off behind the main lines and terrible casting luck.

You really did not use the "Chariot Runners" rule? Very strong rule, even if the wording is quite strange! So you can shield your chariots and garantee that they charge, especially because the orc chariots don't have swiftstride

@@MountainMiniaturesSince It doesn't say 'Unmodified strength' for the impact hits in the AJ, I was about to back you up Steve. But after checking the Tusker Charge rule, it says that the boar weapons become S+1 AP1 on the charge. I don't believe we use weapons for impacts hits

Actually, with the spears/halberds fighting in extra ranks you will always get the maximum number of attacks from the second rank unless the wounds caused drop the physical number of models in the second rank down. Because you only lose an attack from stepping up to the fighting rank (first) you dont lose attacks from stepping up from the third rank to the second.
