*Works so well **Fastly.Cool** for rv that it only requires daytime operation until high temp and humidity are overnight. It is difficult to get to side filters, but back is easily accessible.*

Excellent discussion, especially with the focus on 24v systems. Honestly, it is the future. The problem is, you need a second alternator. Pure and simple. Half the gauge size of the wire, more watt hours. Stronger BTU air conditioners. But then again, a Honda eu2200, soft start, and a dometic brisk ii will turn your van into an ice box. For a lot cheaper.

I could see installing one of these in a locksmith/work van…it would keep it cool while you are working inside without the van running and would probably only need to run a few hours per day depending on the type of jobs each day.

Great video, thanks for making it understandable for the rest of us, plus i loved how you moaned that you cannot be a Star if there is dog playing with toys on your set :D Not only this, this is the 2nd video I see, made by Nomadic, that says the dometic is the right way to go for the vans ... It's SO RARE to see a company be so open that their competitor is Most probably the better choice for most applications, aka, the small vans when your own units are killer awesome for larger rigs. I have a van and a 30ft 5th wheel ... and yes, the application and needs are very different in each.

well kinda, depends on your electrical system... your inverter charges the batteries the batteries run the ac unit... :)

We did 48 volt in our 42 foot RV! I was thinking of 24 volt for the van but then I cannot use the Dometic RTX 2000 right?

I am building a 48 volt system. In a large part because I want to be capable of starting very cool. Even if I am parked in the middle of the Mojave desert for days. But mostly because I'm humid climates I want to run my air conditioner all night and then some in the morning and evening keeping my camper in the 60s. I will be recharging with a 48 volt alternator. Maybe some solar panels to help but honestly at this power consumption level solar's not going to do a whole lot. I will probably be putting an 11 KW battery system in. My suburban, I'm going to install a 5 KW battery with a DC to DC converter to switch it to 12 volt so that I can run a rooftop dometic for the cab of my truck.

I like the Dometic option but the lack of a “Fan Only” mode is a deal breaker. There are many since I can’t fit a MaxxFan and the AC unit on the roof if I want Solar, it’s either fan or AC. The Nomadic 2000 does have a Fan Only mode so that is a better option for me.

If you are in 135F heat The question would be why? The answer to your question would be You need alot more than a Aircondisner at that point ..even food trucks have spray foam to help keep in the cold for longer times..AND keep the heat out

These videos are ridiculous. It doesnt use a 100amp hours per hour in REAL WORLD SCENARIOS. The larger compressor will cool much quicker. With good insulation, it will not have to run as often or as long as the dometic. The dometic is undersized for most rigs and will run all day long making it less efficient. Spreading misinformation not based on real world scenarios is not cool.

@@NomadicInnovations this is what I was really wondering. I'm on the fence myself as I've found 6k btu stand alone unit even in a well insulated 170 was really struggling to be comfortable in 100 degrees (grey van color probably doesn't help). Obviously I want to save money but if after everything is installed the rtx2000 isn't really cooling it will be a lot of time/money wasted to then upgrade. Have you guys really seen vans in 100+ degrees comfortable with the 2000? I've got 600ah battle born plus nations alternator at 24v. Would love to save the ~3-4k with the rtx if possible. Baja heat can be no joke. Great video thanks!!
