Aidorkol is an artificial lake created as a water reservoir from Syrdarya. All Nuratau hills have settled Tajik people who are basically shepherds brought from Tajikistan by Emir of Bukhara so we can say about 120 years ago. The area is also known for wild tulips - by the way many do not know that the real home of tulips is Central Asia - even many good varieties of apples in Europe are from this region. The reason being that this region has extreme climatic conditions very cold in winters and very hot in summers. Currently Uzbekistan is experiencing 'chilla' period this forty days of heat. In August weather starts changing no doubt worldwide climatic changes have also affected our region. Swimming in Aidorkol is not advisable due growth of vegetation. There are few varieties of fish in the lake most popular is carp(Sazan) also there are many other varieties If you come in late March or early April the whole steppes is green with a sea of wild poppies and also some tulips lasting till first week of April. But in the hills which you hiked there are some tulip varieties are also to be found till mid May - End Mar - May mid is rainy season in the steppes
