BIGGEST HINDU TEMPLE OF BANGLADESH - Dhakeshwari Mandir

Hello Guys,
In this video, I have shared my experience of visiting the Biggest temple of Bangladesh - Dhakeshwari Temple. Dhakeshwari National Temple is a Hindu temple in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is state-owned, giving it the distinction of being Bangladesh's 'National Temple'. The name "Dhakeshwari" (ঢাকেশ্বরী Ðhakeshshori) means "Goddess of Dhaka". Since the destruction of Ramna Kali Mandir in 1971 by the Pakistan Army during the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Dhakeshwari Temple has assumed status as the most important Hindu place of worship in Bangladesh. It is also the largest Hindu temple in Bangladesh. This temple is part of the famous Shakti Peethas in Indian Subcontinent. Here the gem of sati's crown had fallen.

There are a road in Chattogram called "Chatteshwsri Road"

It's not 100% confirmed if the names of the cities were derived from the deity's name or if it was the other way around. But it is confirmed that centuries ago people used to pray to localised deities like Dhakeshwari, Chatweshwari etc. People believed their city had It's own deity tasked to protect it and ensure prosperity. Even in Sundarbans, there is a unique local deity (Bondevi/bonchondwi) who is believed to watch over the forest, keep its balance and protect the locals from tigers. Locals there(both hindus and muslims) who collect honey, leaves etc from the forest believe in this deity.

@@MashZ there is no such this as localised deities, chatweshwari, Dhakeshwari, Joshoreshwari all are different name of goddess Kali Ma or Durga Ma in different form, basically showcasing the pluralism of Hinduism. As for Sylhet is concerned, or previously know as Srihotto, it is one of the 51 traditional Shakti peeths of bondhu mythology. The others in Bengal region are mainly in kalighat(Kolkata), bordhoman, nabadwip, chandranath in Chittagong, bogra, barishal and many more.

Yes my beloved Dhaka, the city of my birth is named after this Temple of Maa Dhakeshwari (Durga). Coming from a Muslim family; I am proud of this history and the beautiful name of the temple and the city. There is no point of following any religion if it cannot teach you humanity, tolerance, peace and harmony. Apart from few incidents here and there; we the Bangalis from Bangladesh irrespective of our religious background love to live together in peace. We tend to forget that the high caste Bangali land lords used to have their palaces in Kolkata and from there they used to rule the poor East Bangalis as the Jamindars or Land Lords. Those oppressed Bangalis supported the Pakistan movement to seek some breathing space and freedom from the powerful Hindu Land Lords of West Bengal. So we decided to be part of East Pakistan. But then we have noticed West Pakistanis want to be our rulers too. So, in 1971 East Bengal or East Pakistan became my beautiful Bangladesh. No doubt India helped us 1971; but we East Bengalis also helped Indian freedom from the British Rule. A lot of Indians tend to forget that. Since Independence Bangladesh is progressing. Now, we should do more business with India and Pakistan. But, we Bangladeshis must keep our distance from Indians and Pakistanis at the same time; because they hate and look down on Bangladeshis. This is a fact. Bangladeshi tourism and import dependency with India must be reduced in the near future. We should have stronger border walls with India and grow our own cattle. We should strictly reduce any religious extremism at all cost. I do not want my beautiful Bangladesh to become the next Pakistan or Afghanistan. The situation of Hindus in Bangladesh is deplorable...my ancestors(both father and mothers side lived in present day mymensingh district) came to India and settled in siliguri west bengal) after 1947 my grandfather used to tell me stories about when he was a kid before partition. I mean Pakistan was created just on the basis of religion. And Bangladesh was east Pakistan at that time. My grandfather tried to make contact after liberation of 1971 but he wasn't given citizenship, all his ancestral lands were confiscated so was for most of hindu people. And I am saying this as per his description not from any online or personal bias. Straight up hard facts. Just try to think from from the perspective of the people of 1947 when religion based riots were rampant on the west as well as east. I think it was the correct decision.

(2) They also migrate to India because they feel more connected to India rather than to Bangladesh, as Hindus are majority in India. (3) The birth rate of Hindus are low, I think also in India.

The Ramna Kali Temple destruction and the subsequent massacre you talked was a deliberate ploy by the Pakistani army to kill Hindus. Yes Muslims were also killed but the main target was Hindu population as it was a Hindu dominated area. Recently after Durgaashtami in 2021 another Hindu massacre took place in Bangladesh in Noakhali, Chottogram, Kumilla, etc. Srila Prabhupada, the founder of ISKCON, his statue was burnt down. The Hindu, Buddhist and other minority killings are still continues to this date.
