Panama's Rough Looking Street -Avenida Central in El Centro Panama City

If you want a taste of Panama City, this local area has a lot of history. The shops on Avenida Central aren't fancy, but it's a nice walk down a traffic-closed street for a nice stroll near the Casco Viejo (Old Town). Easy walk from the Cinco de Mayo metro. However, I wouldn't walk there at night though.

I walked down Avenida Central this past June. The street was full of culture and people I spoke with were very friendly. The food prices were very affordable and the produce was fresh. I enjoyed the large murals painted on the sides of the buildings and took many pictures. Thanks for this video which helped me recapture my trip.

I was there in 2018. Many great memories. What a vibrant and live city. Ofc, there are some problems but overall atmosphere is so wonderfull. Unlike my dead eastern European village.

This was our Primary Shopping área way back in the day before Albrook, MultiPlaza and all the Newer Fancy Malls we have now! 🇵🇦😁❤️

When I walked through it I can sense as to what it was like during better times. With the constant rehabilitation of the Casjo Viejo, you think they would put more money into it since it is so close.

Even though that wasn't my intention, that's probably what I was thinking about (Gentrification) and we all knows what happens to the working class when an area get gentrified!

This is the "real" Panama. Real people living real lives - nothing plastic or fake. No elitism going on there. I love this area and frequented it during my time living in Panama.

I never got a chance to go to that part of Ecuador. Now is probably not the best time to go because of recent unrest in the country. Perhaps in the future.

This country is so similar to Colombia,but you don't have the street beggars like you have in Colombia

You are right about the street beggars. I don't recall seeing that in Panama.

There used to be hundreds scattered everywhere patrolling intersections of streets. It reached a point where they would threaten people, so there was a crack down a long time ago. Like the window cleaners that forced themselves onto people. Can't count how many times the cars I was in at intersections were nearly ripped apart by them.
