This is my father's home country. The people and the country I got to know were lovely. I liked how peacful people of different colors live together. My grandpa was from Senegal and he married a Mauritanian woman ☺️..no problem. Of course I know about the dark side of the country. It's very sad...aww but I get a little "homesick" watching this 😌..by the way your language sounds very sweet in my ears, I love the Indian English. I met a lot of lovely people from India when I lived in GB. There's nothing better than good Indian food, my whole family loves it 😉... can't stop smiling..the girls wear their clothes the same way, from right to left, like I do 🤗 they have my daughter's age. So Sweet.

I also remember one culure shock. My cousin brought me to a friend's house and I had to great the elder women (I was only 15) by kneeling down in front of them, kissing the hand and carefully touch the hand with my forehead. The elder women were very respected by the whole family. They were the ones who made the final decisions. I didn't expect that. Oh and some of the elder women looked down on me because I am very thin. You know about the beauty standards in Mauritania.. luckily the younger generation want modern relationships, without force feeding..the man I was supposed to marry was nineteen I was fiveteen and we loved each other.. different story 😆

Very interesting. Your host Omar is very quirky and his house seem to have very few furniture. The city looks pretty barren and moving around with so much dust is extremely difficult. Its literally unbelievable that even in remote and obscure Mauritania, people use couchsurfing! Eager to see more!

The little furniture is very typical for Mauritania. They do most things sitting on the ground.. weird, because I live in Germany for almost all my life but I also don't have much furniture and I easily feel annoyed by things, standing in the room, I do things sitting on the floor as well. I just realized how much genes trick can trick you.. it's a tradition from the nomads..

This video reminds me of Somalians and Somali culture. There are so many Somalis in Minnesota. Most Somalis like most Mauritanians are nice people. These Mauritanians guys and girls are like some Somalian guys and girls in the way they talk, communicate and socialize. Yes it is very surprising that these Mauritanian girls were smoking and I have seen some Somalian girls smoke too with guys. It’s even more surprising that as a Muslim, that guy Omar is flirting with lot of girls. That’s a little culture shock because I thought he and those girls would be aware of their religion, tradition and family values.
