The "Don't take anything personally part"...The way you explained it was great! It's something I am honestly still working on. I have those days where people, y'know standing behind the counter in a store, people at school or just anywhere, have a bad attitude towards me and I am real quick to take it personal and sort of 'fight back' by returning their negative energy (So by giving them or showing them the same attitude they are giving me right away). I'm like "Oh, you gon' talk like that to ME?!" Lol! But I have in fact been wondering if me returning that energy is actually really necessary. This is something I also really admire about you. I know it can be hard to focus only on positive energy, especially on social media and especially when you're an artist. But you just have like some sort of anti bad energy shield which is something I am still working on, but I'm sure that in time I'll have my own. It's all part of growing up. ;) ^•^ ^~^

Girl thank you!! I love nonfiction books...but...let's be honest there are a lot of boring ones :P On that note I have to recommend "No One's Business: A Migrant's Barefoot Journey to Millions" by Vadim Turcanu. It's so raw and eye-opening about an immigrant working his way up out of poverty. And definitely not boring...if anything you want the guy to catch a break ha! I loved it because it deals with serious situations/issues but the author somehow still has such an inspiring voice!

Eating For Beauty sounds right down my alley ♡. Thanks for the recommendations :-)! Because I am an equal parts romance & autobiography enthusiast, my non-boring non-fiction faves are To Selena, With Love by Chris Perez, No Woman No Cry by Rita Marley, & Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness by Ronnie Spector. Those 3 books kept me up at night - I couldn't put them down for a second. How do you feel about romantic memoirs/autobiographies? Any favorites?

Wow, how did I miss this video!? That Michio Kaku book, "Hyperspace" looks divine. I've been on this quest lately, digesting everything I possibly can with regard to space and why and where the universe exists. It's a question I find fascinating, as we're so far from knowing the truth. But it's fun to sit and think and theorize. I totally agree with your theory in that the answer lies somewhere between fully understanding spirituality and science and how they intersect. …& that Eckhart Tolle book, "A New Earth"… whew! There was a quote that always stayed with me: "If the shutters are closed, the sunlight cannot come in. When you yield internally, when you surrender, a new dimension of consciousness opens up." It's become a sort of mantra of mine- it is relevant to so many areas of life. I think I may need to revisit this book!! ^_^ Can I also just say that it's so refreshing hearing you discuss your take on religion with such transparency… I agree with what you said, that essentially, at their core, each religion is similar in that each talks about love being the truth, us being one, being egoless, etc. Thank you for this. It's a conversation I've been unsuccessfully having (for years) with my Christian mother. Speaking of which, could you offer any advice re: coming to a mutual understanding with parents/family whose spiritual belief differs from your own? (P.S. - Outliers was such a dope book!)

I love A New Earth! I am now almost done with The Power of Now...if your mom is Christian she might like books by Neville Goddard. He quotes scripture all the time in his books, although I am not Christian, I love his books. All about the power of the mind and how scripture supports this science. Love David Wolfe, you should check out his book on Superfoods as well. I have The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success of CD as a part of yoga teacher training, but I need it in physical book form (something about having a book to earmark and highlight!). Anyhow - great recommendations, there are a few I will be purchasing from this list as well!

You mentioned Noah Oppenheim and I immediately thought of this incredible book, also non-fiction and definitely non-boring: "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer". He was known as "the father of the atom bomb" and he just had a really fascinating mind and life. You seem to love science and physics and reading about people who were rogue characters in their world/ generation. You may have read it but if not I highly recommend it. My sister who is the biggest nerd I know was like "omg what a nerd are you really reading about JR Oppenheimer?" but I swear I couldn't put it down.
