I got my digital nomad and it was extremely complicated, but i presented invoices and income, not taxes. It took over a year. They don't care about how much money you have at the bank. It doesn't matter if you present 50k, 100k, or even 2M USD. They care about recurring income only. It was denied twice and then approved. The default setting is DENY DENY, you need to do a huge effort to get it (and I speak Spanish). Btw, right now bank statements and letters are DEMANDED in Spanish, before you could just send it in English. I have Citibank and they did everything i asked them always. That's tremendously important. Get a good bank to do this, one that will understand they need to be flexible. If they speak Spanish even better. After they reject you you'll have only 10 days to present what's missing. So be fast, or you lose. Ill get my citizenship in 10 months. Good luck everyone!

Informative video for sure. I am glad to learn that the SF consulate no longer requires in person interviews, since I live in Las Vegas. The widespread backlash against tourists and tourism in Spain, along with the bureaucracy and high income taxes, have led me to focus on another possible retirement destination, but Spain remains a fabulous country.

Thanks for watching! Respectful tourists are always welcome in Spain. It's when people get drunk on the streets or act belligerent that ruin it for everyone else.
@FredPantone294Ай бұрын
@@EverythingIsBoffo The news reports we get here in the US suggest that the major cause of the hostility towards tourists in Spain is the fact that foreigners are buying and renting real estate which has significantly increased housing prices in Spain which has had an adverse effect on the local Spanish population.
@EverythingIsBoffoАй бұрын
@@FredPantone294 but tourists typically are not buying houses. They are here for a short time. I think you mean they stay at Airbnbs instead of hotels? We definitely recommend staying at a hotel or licensed lodging that is registered with the city.

I wish she could’ve provided info/insight on the Spanish consulates in Mexico. Furthermore, for those who hold citizenship in Latin America hoping to ‘fast track’ through the 2yr route. Upon the renewal for the 4yr…in that 1st year of 4 plus the initial year makes 2yrs. Will that person be able to apply for citizenship? Or will that be affected?
@EverythingIsBoffoАй бұрын
@@Acteaon these are just updates, so Mexico wasn’t mentioned because there’s no changes on the application process. You can apply after you hit your 2 year mark if you are a natural-born Ibero American. You don’t have to finish the duration of your visa.

My wife and I are in the process of compiling all the necessary paperwork for the DNV. All is going well, and we plan to be in Spain by April 2025. However, I only intend to work remotely for one, maybe two more years before I retire. My question that nobody has been able to answer is, can I, at that time, apply to switch from the DNV to the NLV? Or would I have to leave Spain and return to the USA to start the visa application process over?

Can't you go to Spain on a tourist VISA and initiate the DNV process there instead of going to a U.S.-based consulate? The San Francisco consulate, with its option to initiate the process via snail mail, is the way to go.

Thank you for your insightful content on non-lucrative and digital nomad visas in Spain! I’m currently based in Canada on a work permit (kitchen helper job) that’s set to expire in July 2025. As I explore my next steps, I’m considering moving to Spain to seek new opportunities. I have previous experience working in the Philippines as a video editor and multimedia artist for almost 4 years. However, I’m unsure which visa type would be the most suitable for me. The non-lucrative visa seems appealing for its simplicity, but I’d like to know if it allows transitioning to a work visa in Spain later. Alternatively, is the digital nomad visa better suited for someone with a creative and remote-friendly skill set like mine? What would you recommend for someone in my position who wants to establish a career in Spain? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help and for sharing such valuable information!
