Great topic Chris! I’m in tech and nobody wears fragrance. nobody gives compliments. In my circle, I think more ppl get offended than not. even my own sister doesn’t like me around her cats bc my scent lingered on their fur for a week 😂 and that was mon guerlain! (My hobby consists of testing on test strips where I can enjoy 10-15 perfumes a day without committing to wearing anything offensive 🤣 I enjoy it actually 😆)

Yes it’s very tricky! But it’s impossible to be scent free. Shampoos have fragrance. Hand cream, laundry detergent , fabric softener even spray starch has a scent. So we can’t live in a fragrance free world. It’s impossible just about. I agree it has to be very quiet and and not bombastic. I mean all of us at work know how to be coy…..and certain fragrances are just off limits (hello Angel, Alien and Coco Mme….talking to you!)😂😂😂. They all fall into the “avoid” categories….strong floral, strong patchouli and strong patchouli /sweet. Big no no. 😉

I wore them all and no one in my family could smell them on me. I was asking for input. So they all wear quiet on me which is great. I don’t need a punch in the face fragrance all the time. The quieter ones mean I can wear them to work! I really like Torn also but I have so so many vanillas…..it will take one that knocks my socks off to add it…I need to pare down my vanillas not add!! But it’s tempting with that one. ❤️

Hey, Chris! I once wore Cloud 2.0 to an appointment and sprayed it really heavily because I couldn't smell it that well, but apparenty everyone else could because I got a lot of comments. So I try to stay away from those really molecular frags because I have to overspray to smell them and I can't gauge how well others pick up on molecular scents. Anyway, mine are Glossier You, Musk Therapy, Parisian Musc, Musc Infini, and any musks except my beloved Musc Ravageur is a NO for work. Also, Santal Basmati and sandalwoods like Gris Charnel. I also sometimes wear Cuir Beluga if I'm nervous and need to feel really put together, but make sure not to overspray. I do wear others that I just do one or 2 spritzes under my clothing (in the lower cleavage area) if I want to smell wafts of it myself but not make it too loud. I need to try Nothing But Sea and Sky since you recommend it!

i love bois d’iris!! so great! its compared alot to dior bois d’argent but i think its so much better. for work i really love prada infusions amande and the iris one of course; i actually layer both of those on top of carner tardes. other loves are cacharel noa, and dior pure poison, as well as the narciso white cube and the black cube (most narcisos in general). i also love chanel cristalle eau verte and jo malone colognes like honeysuckle and davana.

Two sprays…..and a coworker who is my friend asked for me to never wear it again because the musk is so strong. 😂😂😂😂we can speak freely with one another. It got decluttered quickly. It also gave me a headache it was so strong. But you know certain offices (maybe legal offices , etc ) you can probably wear what you want. 👏🏻👏🏻😉❤️and underspraying is always a good idea!!! 😉🥰

Hi Mary!!! Yes! No one talks about Au the Blanc and like you….I think it’s lovely!!!!! I think if you like Au the Blanc you will like NBS and Sky. I actually had an extra bottle and did a giveaway of that one in September and the woman who won it says it is very “daydreamy” which is a cute and accurate way of describing it. That Santal Basmati…..watch out! It’s expensive. I have the small 15 -20. ml travel spray and I baby it. I am not sure I ever smelt fragrance on another scientist other than some of the students from the Middle East. Nuclear, Taif rose based scents are definitely an office / lab smell because of that. I don't mind though, I find it interesting, but I know some people would rather not smell other people at all. I usually stick to something citrussy or light fruity woody. Architect's clubs sounds like a good inoffensive vanilla.

Recently got Cuir de Russie by Le Jardin Retrouve. Have you tried it? The name is deceiving...it's a beautiful woody, violet fragrance with only the smallest, softest touch of the softest leather for a bit of depth. Perfect for work or anytime, really!

I fail at this. I love Patchouli, i only like florals... My signature scent for years was Aromatics Elixir which is full of florals and patch and yet at least 3 men a week in those days, came into my office and said I love the perfume youre wearing!!! What is it. I have many roses in my collection that are soft and office safe. IMHO it is sweet perfumes with gobs of vanillla that are not office safe and get people running in the opposife direction 🧁🙃

Oh yes! I can’t wear some of my favorite fragrances (patch heavy ones). I have to save those for home or errands. 😥Those bombastic ones like Angel or Alien or Aromatic Elixer? There will ppl that love it and the same amount or more will recoil ! Those are love /hate ones for sure. I have owned Angel for years……and love the EDT….but wouldn’t dare wear it to my current work place. Now if I was a lawyer or musician or a SA???? I’d go crazy wearing what I wanted! It’s only working this job for over a decade (and seeing what works and what gets ppl in hot water) do I feel pretty confident knowing how to avoid a fragrance disaster! 😂😂❤️😉

It isn’t just about not offending co-workers or customers, it is about inflicting pain on people. Those strong floral or patchouli perfumes induce headaches on some people. Some women (and men) are just clueless about what fragrance is appropriate for daytime or work. If in doubt, don’t wear any at all.
