Answering basic questions everyone have: - Mustache guy from 1st intro is Gol D. Roger - late Pirate King who's last words during his execution reignited flames of adventure in many and begun Great Pirate Era - They reused original Op two times for various anniversaries : v2 was sang by voice actors of present crew members and v3 was by band doing next one Op + singer of Op 1 returns in few other Op either solo or with other artists - At certain point studio gave up on Endings and started using longer Openings - Author loves to draw crew and other characters doing various things in their free time at title pages of all chapters and color spreads: sometimes those take form of side stories for side characters while other are drawings requested in fan letters. There are even art-books with all color spreads, while studio usually uses those art pages and animate them in earlier parts of most(not all) of longer Openings. Opening 7 is sung by the voice actors (and it was only used for a few recap episodes). So spoiler-free that even something is wrong here: The guy with the mustache is Gold Roger, the former pirate king who was executed years ago and left his vast treasure, the "One Piece", somewhere in the sea. And the characters in the openings that aren't straw hats (the name of Luffy's crew) are important but mostly not real villains.

But at first it looks like a childish show for toddlers and children under the age of 10 years. Like all the Disney shows I had in my childhood 30 years ago. But with the first arc that features Buggy you can predict its depth. Well, many people underestimate the impact over and over again. It is a show that can teach you lessons about life in courses like social studies and world history at high school level. What alternatives had the old programme slot at RTL II back then? Vampy and early Pokito TV as children's program showed nothing like that. And then the time began when the broadcaster cut series for youth protection in the stupiest way possible. But that is an other topic.

At the begining of One Piece, the openings were 1m30s long but after they are 2m30s long because endings don't exist anymore. So you have watched the real openings. But some of them have several versions ( same song but different pictures).

Sanji is a very interesting character. I like it that you are taking interest in him, which is not mainstream. If it is any consolation, Sanji is a character who respects (and loves) all women. So he and robin were not dating or anything. His behavior is same towards all women. Also, Robin is not only my favourite character in one piece, she is my favourite character over all anime series. So big thumbs up for finding her interesting. Most people tend to focus on Nami in these openings :v

Opening 7 is sung by the voice cast of the main characters. So same visuals, different singers, and extra nostalgia. Also the openings get longer at a certain point, because the anime stopped doing the endings. Opening 10 song was kind of like a remix of the first one. Different singer and instruments, but the same lyrics, just a full version so with more lines. And obviously different visuals and even more extra nostalgia!

Some numbers: - One Piece is the best-selling manga of all time at over 480 million volumes sold. Some advice should you start watching the show: - It's better to go in as blind as you can. Being surprised is one of the best parts of One Piece, and everything connects, sometimes to events from years (or decades) past. Try to forget as much of the openings you just watched as possible. - Don't read the episode titles. As you probably know as an anime watcher, the Japanese have no qualms about spoilers, and the titles can give away some huge surprises. OOT, last year quarantine-time in Indonesia, a lot new fans of One Piece increased like crazy, included my 3 nakamas that i recommended the comics to 'em. they have the same exact quote "this is a must read/watch series before you die". so, to you who still didn't read/watch One Piece, its never too late to start a new great stories and make it part of your life. its not a race to catch up all the chapters/episodes, its about the journey and the feelings. thank you, Oda and crew.

There were so many moments where you were trying to figure out who the villains are. One thing I love about One Piece is that answer is usually not clear. The interactions between characters are so complex that most people can’t be placed into a solely good or solely bad position. Certainly some can, but they are few and far between. Many characters often switch sides due to changes either internally or externally. The character writing in this show is some of the best in all of fiction.

There are differences between opening 1, 7 and 10. Op 7 was sung by the Strawhats crew(Luffy and his crew) and Op 10 is the newer version.

The red-haired guy is very important. He was the one who inspired Luffy to become a pirate and he was also the one who gave Luffy the Straw Hat, that's why they're called the Straw Hat Pirates. The guy with the moustache at the beginning was the Pirate King, the very first person who travelled the world. At his execution, he told people to find his treasure , ushering the Great Pirate Age where people want to become pirates. And yes, Nami is a badass with a sad backstory. Almost all of them has some story to tell.
