Here's a (somewhat debatable) tier list of the UK's NON Russell Group Universities! Comment if you attend any of these universities and if you agree with the rankings. UEA is definitely an underrated university. Fun fact Prof Sarah Gilbert who developed the Oxford AZ Covid-19 vaccine is a UEA grad.

city university is good. if you put aston as good how can you not put city. it has great links to employers in the city too that are better than many russel group grad prospects

hopefully Reading in pt 2. For business/ real estate it’s class. It’s a ‘Red Brick’ but not a Russel Group too.

With respect, whilst I agree with a few of the rankings, I’m not so sure whether I agree with some of the other rankings in this video. This is my tier list and I am curious to know what others think of this list: Créme de la creme: Loughborough, St Andrews, Bath, Royal Holloway. Great: Surrey, UEA, Essex, Sussex, SOAS Decent: Aston, Nottingham Trent, City, Portsmouth, Coventry, De Montfort Personally, I don’t think any of these unis deserve to be in the bottom tier.

@@Bigdaddymilkyy_Animations I agree. Royal Holloway in particular is consistently ranked very high every year. Ranks higher some Russel Groups i.e Queen Mary and Newcastle. Royal Holloway and maybe even Surrey are quite prestigious and well respected.

Bath and UEA are very good for particular research fields. UEA has some incredibly prestigious post graduate programmes because of the proximity to the Norwich research park and Bath is very good for evolutionary biology.

Realistically Bath and St Andrews are good enough for russel group. I'd also say Loughborough is better than some of the lower unis in the russel group.

The redbrick universities are among the most prestigious institutions in the UK with entry qualifications very similar to those for Oxford and Cambridge. The High Fliers' annual report of the 100 top employers in the UK places several redbrick universities above both Oxford and Cambridge graduates for the capabilities of their graduates. These are the Universities of Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Warwick, Nottingham and Sheffield. Along with Oxford & Cambridge, all the above universities are members of the UK's elite Russell Group of universities.

it is generally very reputable among employers in london. even more so than many russell group unis. i know this bc i've spoken to professionals in finance and HR who have told me so

I really don’t understand how you could rank UEA as decent when it consistently ranks much higher than all the universities in the ‘great’ category and generally has a better reputation. UEA is consistently ranked in the top 30, NTU/Aston have never broken into that category. The research power of UEA is pretty good as well, there’s a reason why they were invited to be part of the Russel group. Just because it has more clearing spaces than NTU & Essex doesn’t mean it’s not as good of a uni. Perhaps it’s just less captivating because it doesn’t promote itself as hard as the likes of NTU. I’ve been bombarded with Ads from NTU for example. It probably doesn’t have as much appeal as bigger cities like Essex and Nottingham as well. It should really at least be in the great category especially if you are going to put Aston & NTU there.

It should be higher based on academics but it depends on which department you’re with, I go to Rhul and it’s a really good all round experience and you still have a good social life without being in central london (it’s cheaper too with the Uni of London Group Rep)

I agree. Royal Holloway should be much higher on this list. It has an excellent all round reputation, its national and global rankings are consistently very high (studentcrowd 2022 ranking: 11th, The Times 2022: 26th, The Guardian: 22nd, The Complete University Guide 2021: 24th).

Ntu and aston have bad reputations as uni’s it’s known as a party university and people only really go there to have a good time. And not for their educational aspect. City uni and royal holloway definitely deserve to be on great rather then decent. Replacing aston and ntu imo.

If you want backups then I'd say you can't go wrong with NTU, Aston and Essex. Imo all three are better than the ones you mentioned

Loughborough University has many courses where you only need a 2:2 for a masters - I'd advise checking them out as it's a much better uni than northumbria and LJMU

Actually my spouse and year old son will be joining me afterwards that's y I thought liverpool and Newcastle will be good places better than London or Manchester.. I've got offers from university of Kent and brunel university london too..but London ll be too expensive for me and kent Canterbury ll have less part time jobs..that's y I chose northumbria and liverpool.. thanks a lot brother for ur valuable input

It's in the East Midlands (middle of the country). I can understand for family living purposes you'd want to be close to Liverpool and Newcastle but in terms of postgraduate value for money, studying at Loughborough would be much better than Northumbria and LJMU
