This knot along with many other items of instruction/advice carries over nicely into traditional bait-casting and spinning fishing techniques. Went yesterday on my local river and caught a 3lb smallie using this knot to "liven up" my bitsy tube. Used this instead of a standard cinch knot. Thanks, Brian!

Neat little knot Brian. A down side of click type glasses is that you need two hands to put them on, sometimes one of those hands is already employed. Thanks for all the tutorial videos. I have been fishing for 70 years but just starting out on fly fishing (2 days only), and I am loving it.

That is a great knot to use I first saw this knot years ago on the back of a Rapala Crankbait package. They called it the Rapala Knot lol they too recommend it with their crankbaits for better swimming action. Thank you so much for this channel and the great content I am learning a lot about fly fishing and I love it.

Another terrific tutorial ! THANKS Brian ! Im also familiar with that knot and much prefer it to the clinch knot for most any bait . Reason being clinch knots have failed me too many times . Loop or palamar and uni are my most used .
@Madriveroutfitters4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. If a clinch knot is failing you though, you are doing something wrong.

With this knot you can run line through the eye of the hook before you tie it. With perfection I don’t think you can. Perfection is for making an empty loop at the end of a line.

There's a lot this video left out. It does make a difference which way the line comes up through the overhand knot and on the return as well. The KZbin channel Salt Strong has good tutorials for this loop knot

Great knot. Any benefits to using this instead of a perfection loop for streamers?

Would this loop knot make for a better loop to loop connection instead of the perfection loop? The tag ends of the perfection loop exit at 90 degrees whereas with this one they lie alongside the mainlines thereby not snagging any debris... Thanks again for all the useful tutorials.
@Madriveroutfitters3 жыл бұрын
Have never heard of anyone using it but you could try. Might be hard to tie without an anchor point though.
@TheJuryIsOut3 жыл бұрын
@@Madriveroutfitters thanks for the prompt reply. Appreciate the feedback. No problem at all without an anchor point; I used a screw driver. I live in South Africa and like to follow what our international counterparts are doing. I had this knot fail on a loop to loop connection but not where I would have expected. It failed at the knot and not the loop ends. Further testing proved this conclusively. I then tried the surgeons knot and spider hitch to create the loops and both these worked much better. Didn't really feel like tying the bimini which is the ultimate but I'm happy with the spider hitch. Stay well.
