i agree that it was so well crafted! usually with so many things happening, you’d expect the author to forget some plot points and details, leading to inconsistencies but everything literally got addressed, from the very first opening scene. everything tied together well. i do feel exhausted at how much happened, at times i felt like i was getting whiplash, but i agree that overall it is a very strong debut novel

just finished this book! I loved every moment of it. If you're looking for something along the Chinese mythology/fantasy genre, I recommend Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim. Followed by Unravel the Dusk. AMAZING DUOLOGY, CRIED AT THE END

SPOILER WARNING!!! do not proceed if you don't wanna hear spoilers I really like all the characters and especially the drama. Like liwei still loving xingyin even after getting engaged.. Wenzhi and xingyin's relationship.. Fighting the monsters and finding a way to save her mother.. All beautiful, thrilling, romantic and lots of drama

@@vickwee5214 she ends up with liwei but technically no one coz like wenzhi dies at the end so def not wenzhi. So what abt liwei? Well she wants to just stay friends with liwei.

The romance in the book is YA level in my opinion! (Not steamy) Id say the book itself is pretty much YA but on the mature end of YA with some of its themes if I was to put it on a spectrum. I hope you enjoy it!!

Everyone bought this book for only one reason - the cover. The storyline is so unoriginal I actually feel semi embarresed for the author. It's just full of the same boring clichés you always see in this genre. YAWN ++
