Thank you, Cori. Great explanation and demonstration video! So valuable for many! I love your antique/vintage finds, especially the yo-yos. What a stunning cover they will make! Thank you for your kind thoughts and wishes. The situation is still very precarious for many communities. We have firefighters coming in from Victoria, New Zealand and Canada to assist our overworked and exhausted firefighters. Some storms have brought a little rain in a few places, however, storms also mean lightning strikes and this causes more outbreaks in the tinder dry country. Each day brings another area under fire (literally). Love and big hugs to you! 🥰💞

Oh Keryn, I am so very sorry! My heart goes out to you and your countrymates. I'll pray for lots of soft, gentle rain to wash away the remnants and prevent further damage. Love and big hugs to you!

Thank you, Cori, for the detailed explanation. I think this would really work well with pages that are made from thicker card stock. I hope you will show us the later stages when the pages are all decorated and completed so we can see how to finish off this kind of a binding. Looking forward to it

Excellent and of course! I'm happy to share additional details and the finished project. It does work very well for sturdy pages. Since I often include photos and memorabilia, a sturdier page base is generally my preference.

It really isn't so bulky at all... at least not at the spine-hinge stage. Once the pages are decked out? No comment 😁

Thank you for this explanation. How do you then attach this spine to your book cover? And, have you sewn multi-page signatures to the canvas directly? I am trying to get my head around it…

Good morning. I am going to make my first journaling and I am wanting to something for a grandchild. Is there anything you would recommend for me to get started?
@CoriDahmen Жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness, what a fun adventure you are on! I know all too well that a first journal can be intimidating so I strongly recommend going with something simple. As it is for a grandchild I would suggest choosing a theme or palette in their preference and making it sturdy so they can write, save treasures, store photos or keep memorabilia, if that is their wish. If it's intended as a writing journal only, then a small amount of thin pages in a color/style they would enjoy. Smaller/thinner journals are much less cumbersome to make and can be a great way to get started. Best wishes to you!
