For all other non-Steam game launchers, use wha's in the video. Use _Heroic Games Launcher_ for _Epic_ and _GoG_ games. It can add launchers for *individual* games to Steam, so you can add artworks for them and modify performance settings per game. The loading is quite faster as well since Heroic launches them directly without opening the Epic or GoG launcher. The devs of Heroic and other non-Steam game launchers on Deck are currently developing a universal non-Steam launcher (so no just for Epic and GoG) that works like Heroic atm.

just yesterday i found the non steam launcher stuff in the decky test branch. had decky installed for ages and had no clue about the way using desktop mode for NSL. interesting to see it the other way around. anyways i installed epic via decky NSL app and it works like a charm. thanks for the tip with proton experimental and the controls...it was a nightmare holding the steam button to use the mouse 😅 finally no need for the desktop mode and heroic to deal with my epic games anymore

Yeah, but some games won't work in multi-player. Like wild lands. You can play single player, once you hit coop, the game will kick you off. Due to anti cheat.

I had the exact same issue as you and what helped was making chrome my primary browser. If that doesn’t work, i recommend you to add an Internet browser to your Steam library as a non-steam game through desktop mode and just stream you stuff like that.

How do you get Xbox Gamepass to work with the steam decks controls? it requires a controller to be connected as it is cloud play

Try switching the compatibility to Proton Experimental. If that doesn’t work go into the controller settings and click “Current Button Layout” from there go to “Search” and a list of option should appear under Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox game pass link is broken in this and Playstation Plus is installed but its icon is only blinking at the bottom right corner of the desktop mode and not opening the launcher in both desktop or gaming mode

For Xbox Game pass you’re going to have to download Chrome off the Discover page on Desktop mode. From there try launching Xbox GamePass to make sure it opens. If it does, close the page and head back to Gaming Mode and you should be Running GamePass. As far as PlayStation plus, from what I’m seeing it doesn’t work as of right now.

From the games I’ve tested i haven’t had any issues. Keep in mind, games that are brand new like “Immortals Of Aveum” are going to have some issues running or might not even run at all since it is a new game. The only games that i had to actually take time to figure out how to get running where from the Amazon launcher.

Can you tell me the location of the launchers ? I installed the zip in my sd card but it still installed the launchers in my internal storage 🫠 I barely have none with my 64gb model

That sucks, i use to have that issue until i upgraded my NVMe to a 512gb. Try looking under “Home” on desktop mode and maybe it should be under “Games” try digging around your files, it’ll eventually show up. I haven’t tried putting the launches in my SD card only the games themselves. Hope that helped. Btw since you do have a 64gb model you are going to have to constantly delete games due to the low storage. I suggest only keeping files and protons on your internal drive and only Games on the SD. That’s how i got around until i upgraded .

I know that you can enable Cloud Saves in the settings once you launch the Epic Launcher. But I wasn’t able to get cloud saves working either. Every time i would download a game (for example Dead Island 2) onto a different steam deck all of my save progress weren’t there.

Well if you’re talking about installing NonsteamLauncher then yes, once you have downloaded the Launchers you want in desktop mode you should see the steam store restart itself the launchers should appear under “uncategorized”.

When installing games it’ll automatically download them into a folder (the name of the folder will be which ever launcher your using) click download and it’ll download them directly to your Steam Deck. In order to install games into your SD you’re going to have to look for your SD manually when installing so you should be fine when downloading. Hope that helps.

i did the non-steam launcher part of the tutorial and was able to get everything working but had to factory reset my deck. when i did it a second time after factory resetting i am now unable to play any of my itchio games if anybody knows a fix please let me know!!

Ohh no I’m sorry to hear. A factory reset should be your last resort when troubleshooting a Steam Deck. The option wipes out all of your user data, reverting your Deck to the way it was on day one. I’m curious, why did you have to do a factory reset? What happened to your deck after downloading the NonSteamLauncher

I haven’t, you should try uninstalling and redownloading it. Sometimes the apps don’t function as they should.

Yes, The NonsteamLauncher gives you a List of different apps you can use. Unlike Heroic it only focuses on Epic, GOG and Amazon games. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong. But if you only want to play Epic games than the Heroic Launcher is where to go. You can even add you Epic games to your steam library.

You can but i believe you risk the chance of having your account banned. I know that it gives you a notification before downloading saying “This Game includes anti-cheat software. It may not work due to denied or broken anti-cheat support” “IF” you really want to play, you will need to install Windows 10/11 onto your console. That’ll be a video for another day lol This is a LCD 512gb Steam Deck.

Thanks for the response! I appreciate it! I have a friend who bought his own Steam Deck when I got mine that plays those games. I installed Windows 11 on it for him, and he is able to play Fortnite, but it has been having issues. Mainly because the drivers aren’t out yet for the Steam Deck Oled to get it working with Windows. So it currently doesn’t have any sound, unless he plugs in some headphones into the audio jack.

I have never seen that error nor have I’ve encountered it. If you go back into desktop mode and go into the “NonSteamLauncher” folder there should be a “README.md” folder. Open it and take a look. You’ll find instructions on what to do in certain situations. Hope that helps.

@@rickyazz529 Try uninstalling Any of the games you downloaded Using the (Nonsteam Launcher) before deleting the (Nonsteam Launcher). Once you delete it via desktop mode try re download it using the tutorial. Lmk if that worked, again I’m sorry if you’re having any issues. I haven’t ran into the one you’re having and I’ll do my best to assist you. Keep in mind I’m not the creator of these Launchers.

Depends, did buy EAFC off the EA launcher or did you purchase it off Steam? From my understanding it's not possible to transfer games from one platform to another, you can only transfer or merge from one EA account to another. If you did purchase it off the EA launcher then yes, you would need to download the launcher to play it. But, if you got it if the Steam store than no you should be able to download it once you login to your existing account. Keep in mind, that if you are running the steam version it’ll make you sign in to your EA account to verify the game. It’s very annoying.

@@arvey86 No, i recommend buying games off the Steam Store directly especially if you’re going to be playing them off the Steam Deck. Also EAFC isn’t supported on the steam deck so Buy at your own risk. The game might not work or might work great.

Is it better? I personally think no. Heroic Launcher is much easier to download. All you need to do is open the Discover Page on Desktop Mode and look for “Heroic Launcher” click download & your done. Plus i use the Epic store a lot and Heroic mainly focuses on The Epic Launcher

I’m sorry to hear that. I just tried downloading the Rockstar Launcher and had no issues. It even open itself. Go back to the launcher installation and click “Start Fresh” then go into your steam library through Desktop Mode and it should be under “Uncategorized”. Hope that helps.

Just buy the Rog Ally. It’s a better overall machine by FAR. The trash Linux backend for the SD ruins it. The Ally will play any launcher and any game with ease.

I’ve had a really nice experience with steam os, I think it depends heavily on what kinds of games you play. For older stuff that windows hates, it’s so much easier to run. I’m not really into the multiplayer games that have all the issues
