The most embarrassing thing of my life is I hated folklore first listen. It’s because I don’t like change and I LOVED lover.. I was so used to pop taylor that I was like immediately no. But lo and behold after a few listens I became obsessed, even more so with evermore, that when midnights was announced I was like I don’t want pop anymore! I think the thing that makes TS so special is how she conveys an emotion with not only her lyrics, but the musical arrangement as well. it took a hot minute for me to like King of My Heart, but now it’s one of my favorites. The frenetic drums reminds me of the frenetic feeling we all get when we suddenly and unexpectedly fall in love hard and fast. I think that’s how her relationship with Joe started. frenetic, fast, and falling hard. I felt the same way about Out of the Woods. It gave me anxiety- but again - girl in her arrangement made us all feel the anxiety she had in her relationship with Harry.

Honestly, as a Taylor Swift fan, I really, really love this album. It is really hard for me not to say reputation is my favorite album. She had went through everything with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and the leaked, edited phone call that claimed that Kanye had let Taylor know what the lyrics to His song famous were going to be and made it seem like she okayed it (sometime in early 2020 around April I think they leaked the entire phone call between Kanye and Taylor and it proves that Taylor was not lying the entire time, so good on half the world for just finding their first good reason to turn on her and doing so😢) and after all of that stuff Taylor left the limelight. Before this Taylor was huge in media, she was a big celebrity, she was very famous. As a Taylor Swift fan then I was used to seeing her on red carpets all the time and performing live all the time doing interviews all the time I mean I was used to seeing Taylor and she left. For, I don't know, maybe eight months to a year she was gone the only thing she did in that time frame was released a song with Zayn Malik called I don't want to live forever( beautiful song BTW). So when she deleted everything on all of her social medias and replaced it with a cryptic video that looks suspiciously like a snake ( which everybody had been calling her a snake and a liar and Taylor Swift is over party was trending on Twitter it was insane) I almost actually cried cuz I didn't think she'd come back I thought Taylor would quit music I thought she had finally got fed up with it and everybody constantly being at her for nothing I really thought that she was over it. So she replace all of her social media with just the cryptic image of something that looked like maybe a snake and then over the next few days or weeks (I'm not a hundred percent sure my time frames have definitely shorten through Time 😂) she posted more videos that were cryptic that made it very apparent that it was a snake and she dropped the music video for look what you made me do, which honestly is probably one of the worst songs I've ever heard in my life but I still know every single word to it because of what it meant. just the symbolism of the video, the symbolism of the song itself, everything. It was when Taylor Swift went Easter egg crazy 😂. And then she released the the album called reputation and it made sense to what her life had been and the things that she had gone through. Starts with a song called ready for it where she's asking her potential partner if he is prepared for all of the BS that's about to come with dating her and whether or not he's actually really ready for it ( they dated for six years so I think that he had a skewed vision of what getting ready for it actually meant because when she came back out of hiding fully after the pandemic and really started hitting her stride yeah the media attention, then the interviews, yeah everything went right back up to the top. Lucky for me I guess 😅) and then to this is why we can't have nice things where she's discussing the whole situation with Kanye and how it's went downhill because he betrayed her trust. To New Year's Day where I actually think that she is showing that even though she claims that "old Taylor can't come to the phone because she's dead" I think old Taylor was always there she just needed some time and she needed to vent and I think that reputation was a lot of venting and a lot of really personal things for her and so it made it hard for a lot of people who are not Taylor Swift fans and do not understand her story to really connect to but for me I connect to it. I love that album! I think reputation is my favorite album and then folklore is my second favorite album😂. And also I think the reason why she talked so much about kings and queens and kingdoms and things have to do with that is for two reasons one she really really really love storytelling so I'm sure she would really really love to read stories and I'm sure she's read a lot of fiction that she has got an inspiration from and the second reason is because her boyfriend at the time Joe Alwyn is British 😂

I think you should definitely react to the live perfomances, if not all of them, then definitely I Did Something Bad and Don't Blame Me, they are absolutely superior, Taylor shows her vocals in there, IDSB even some choreo and a lot of sass, like she's really intimidating in the I Did Somthing Bad performace. With both songs you have two choices. I Did Something Bad on Reputation tour or AMAs 2019 performance, I personally prefer the tour one, but they are practically identical. Don't Blame Me either Reputation tour or the Eras tour, but Eras tour doesn't have high quality footage, so I would definitely suggest the Rep tour one.

This is Is Why was my first favorite on the album bc I love bratty petty Taylor and the beat, but I was watching this like "she's not gonna be happy with this one" 😅 but also I think New Year's Day is possibly her best album closer of all time, because the album sounds so angry and aggressive even if it's discussing her falling in love, and at the end she strips away the persona and just gives you the bare truth of "I've found the kind of love where I can have fun at parties and kiss him at midnight but also enjoy the quiet aftermath where we're doing something mundane". When she and Joe broke up I admit I went back to this song just to cry a little, because I cannot imagine writing something like that for someone and then now that person isn't in your life anymore I think most Swifties (myself included) probably aren't super familiar with the type of stuff you usually listen to so trying to grasp what you're gonna like is a bit difficult lol

we love your honest reaction because we also do feel the same way when we first heard the album or even any album there are really just skips on first listen however i listen to albums as the way the songs are in order so i really get to be familiar with the ones i dont like at first listen. im also a huge fan of watching reaction vids and some yt reactors even liked the song when they are already editing it because it got stuck in their head and theyll pop up on the video saying it was a bop days after! haha i love that growth as it shows that music can really move us also just a side note i or we do understand that reputation is somehow not what yt reactors expected it to be as to what fans are saying thats because u rly need to be in that era to fully understand it and wt that EDM music arrangement, its not aging like fine wine. we’ve also seen Taylor at her best every single time and i feel like Midnights might just be what reputation’s legacy should be however it will always be a fan favorite as that album is much anticipated in her time (2017) after all the drama so fans at that moment rly deserved it! :)

As for what album to do next... Lover is definitely the sequel to Reputation - you'll understand what I mean by that when you listen to the very last song, Daylight. So it makes a lot of sense for you to do that next. Ideally, I'd recommend people do 1989, Reputation, and Lover in that order, because the three of them tell a full story: 1989 is living up on that pedestal, with just a few hints of trouble on the horizon, Reputation is after a huge storm has blown over, and Lover is after doing a lot of healing and growing from that whole saga. That being said, I saw someone else say Red, and that is such a defining album for her; I'd really love for you to do Red soon! So yeah, Red or Lover, with Red being my preference and Lover making the most logical sense.

Could be the best album, if my brain doesn't want it atm, I can't. examples, folklore and evermore. I listen to them while knitting, no songs stuck, then just around Midnights release, suddenly both stuck and held me in a chokehold. Also even tho I gave Reputation many chances it wasn't until 2 days before Speak Now (Taylor's Version) was coming out that my brain said, let's listen to Reputation again, give it a shot. * sigh * so yeah, I'm currently going through my Reputation phase i guess 🤷

I def understand you, like you said EDM was very big in 2016/2017 so some of the beats and drops on some of these songs are very of their time, the only thing keeping this album from aging badly to me is mainly her brilliant melodies and lyrics as well as the emotion in the vocals. To me for this album to be your absolute fav, you likely witnessed its release otherwise it's harder to like all the songs in the middle chunk considering how far we've leaned away from EDM/House music by this point

i don’t think you missed anything on reputation, but you missed a TON of midnights bonus tracks, there are so many deluxe editions you still need to do. and for reputation you could do “i don’t wanna live forever” that’s basically reputation but not on the album.
