Nona was originally the first act of Alecto and then it just got too long which is why it feels like a side-quest. I went in with that knowledge so I kind of knew this book wasn't going to do much more than set us up for Alecto. I really enjoyed learning more about how Jod and the Lyctors came to be. And that last scene was hilarious.

I'm so behind but I'm finally picking up Gideon and I'm so excited to get to it!

Gideon and Harrow were a bit confusing until the end, where most of it made sense; I'm currently reading Nona, and from what I understood this was supposed to be the first part of Alecto, so I get the whole side quest vibe. I loved the first 2 books, and I'm liking this so far, I have faith all will be revealed later. I'm one of those people who like getting little tidbits of info throughout books, so I'm happy so far

Just finished Nona and you’re review was spot on. I enjoyed myself and wasn’t completely lost but I definitely enjoyed the first two books a lot more. And yeah those kids can go kick rocks 😭 I found myself putting the book down frequently when they were on the page. And the other side characters were very hit and miss for me whereas previously I ate up everyone. Still very excited for the conclusion though!

Probably not your intent, but thank you for your review that finally let me let this series go 😊 I enjoyed the first but barely understood it (mostly I just couldn’t keep the characters straight AT ALL). The second I just had no idea what was going on but I loved Gideon so much I pushed through. I was going to re-read them to prep for Nona, but I just don’t think I have it in me just for a confusing side quest. As much as I want to love these, they just aren’t for me.

I was in for the humour and mystery of Gideon, Harrow less so. The second book was in my opinion not well written and confusing af, with some hilarious exceptions like the lyctor orgy. I think I will pass on this one.
