There is a 1983 movie called "The Day After". Its a drama about a sudden nuclear attack and the American survivors. The multi-launching of all of the U.S. nuclear arsenal, and knowing what the likely Soviet response would be was terrifying. Especially when it came to pass. And then the survivors having to cope afterwards. Another nuclear attack film is "Miracle Mile" (1988). The most terrifying phone call that anyone would ever receive. Another film called "Testament" (1983) which was about survivors of a small town that try to cope with the aftermath of a nuclear attack. Then there is "The Divide" (2011). NYC apartment tenants try to survive in the basement of their building after a nuclear attack. All these films are very terrifying and depressing. But then there is a funny SNL sketch called, "The Last Fry". About a North Korean missile attack: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJKxlIenrJJ8Y9E

Looking into the flash is one thing but nukes are not rising from the ground, they are detonated 300 meters above ground and the cloud is rising from the fireball, which is at least 300 meters above ground. Not to mention the running horse scene. Other than that, the series was quite good. The opening sequence NAILED everything about Fallout. In the games, we never really got to SEE the Great War, save in glimpses. Fallout 4 with the Pre-War Prologue was different because we SAW the panic and how everything was going to hell on a crisp cool October day in Massachusetts. This, though? This was different in its own way. Because we could see it not from the perspective of the main character, or even glimpses. But as an onlooker. And the panic and the fear goes through your veins, sending a chill up your spine. The Fallout show does the games justice.

Little background info for why so many bombs were dropped in the opening: The Fallout timeline diverges sometime in the 60s or 70s. Life goes on in an increasingly hostile Cold War, natural resources being devoured by global superpowers to the point that the US even annexed Canada midway theough the 21st century. Then, in the early 2070s, China struck across the Bering Strait and invaded Alaska. Not long after the US military drove them away, the bombs fell. Unlike in the real world, where we chased larger and ever more powerful bombs, the powers of the Fallout timeline focused on tactical warheads of roughly the power of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs. Instead of a singular blast being able to level all of LA, they basically launched a curtain of bombs that would be harder to intercept, insuring that they would succeed. The bombs fell on October 23rd, 2077.
@x_trio_3_po3337 ай бұрын
That explains why there are many many Halloween decorations scattered throughout the FO4 game for example. Plastic pumpkins and paper black cats, etc. can be seen everywhere. OTOH If they had chosen Dec 25th as doomsday they could have included Weird Al Yankovic's song, "Christmas At Ground Zero" as one of the radio tunes. BTW the "They" who really dropped the bombs is actually revealed (or strongly implied) at the end of the TV series. But lets let the girls see it for themselves.

Fallout isn’t a specific game, really, it’s a setting in which games take place, kinda like dungeons and dragons in that regard. Each installment of the fallout games is it’s own unique story with it’s own characters and take place in different areas of the world. Very few characters actually appear in more than one game, but the factions and places do. They don’t even take place in the same time, really. Some are earlier after the bombs fell, some later, but they all form one cohesive timeline. Typically you play as a vault dweller who is just reintroduced into the over world and there’s usually some disaster or trauma that takes place which drives the actions of the protagonist (you). Along the way, you’ll find all sorts of quirky characters and companions to help or hinder you along the way, but how you proceed and how things turn out in the end are very much dependent on your choices.

Some people may have told you the setting of Fallout, but I'll pitch in anyway to try and fill the blanks. After events of World War 2, the world changed and took a different turn in technology from what we did. Think of it as an alternate timeline where instead of inventing the microprocessor, they instead harnessed the power of the atom to improve the quality of life in America. What was once science fiction in the 1950s and 60s became science fact. Robot butlers, fusion powered cars, and portable supercomputers, just to name a few. But by the middle of the 21st century, many of the resources, including oil started to run dry, and nobody was willing to share their last few resources or their technology. The Middle East started using their uranium mines to make weapons to settle old scores, the European Commonwealth tried to unify themselves under one flag but started fighting each other, the United Nations officially disbanded, and China replaced Russia as the Big Red Communist. China then attacked Alaska as it was the last place on Earth that still had oil. America naturally wanted to keep it all to themselves and fought against China for the last 10 years. The war ended around fall in 2077, but some Americans were certain that their communist enemies weren't going to just leave in defeat, so the Vault-Tec Corporation created 122 underground shelters called Vaults. Officially, they're meant to keep 1000 citizens safe from the any nuclear war that could happen, and wait at least 10 years before they come back out to repopulate and rebuild their destroyed civilization. On October 23, 2077, the day that no one wished would happen happened. The Great War had begun as America and China launched every nuke they've got at each other, and the war lasted only two hours. Hundreds of millions of lives were lost within minutes, and billions more died in the days to follow, and no one knows for sure who started it.

I've watched a lot of these reactions and y'all's is by far my favorite. Just love watching Lauren's more calm demeanor and magy's little wilder take on things it's a nice contrast. Anyway thanks for the videos.

if you ever played any "the elder scrolls" title you will know what kind of a game any "Fallout" is. There is no story-focus, youre just exploring the world with many small quests and stories and none of the characters in the show ever appeared in any Fallout game.

Great reaction girls. You seemed to have really enjoyed it. I played some of Fallout 3 so I’m a little familiar with it, but not much which seems similar to you guys. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the show. It’s pretty amazing & while big Fallout fans enjoyed it due to them staying faithful to Fallout lore, even casual fans & non-fans can enjoy it. They did a fantastic job. Walton Goggins is criminally underrated although he is getting a but more recognition for his work, but he’s still pretty unknown & he’s always a supporting actor never a lead. His daughter Janey is a precocious young lady & cute as a button. She’s so adorable. Hopefully we get to see what happens to his wife & daughter.🤷 The scary part is that the world is rife with chaos, division & conflict now. It’s scary to think that this fiction could become reality one day. The themes the show puts forth like war, conflict, politics, morally dubious corporations, greed, power, etc are in fact things that inundate our world right now. We have huge divisions in society & everything thinks they know the best way to govern. There are millions of people screaming about global catastrophes & the end of the world while many are prepping for the end. Millionaires & billionaires are spending millions on bunkers like the vaults in the show. Frankly, I don’t think I’d want to survive after a nuclear holocaust & live in a post-nuclear world which would be a horrific reality. It’s scary to even contemplate, but you have to think about these things as disturbing as they may be. Well, that was downright pessimistic & morose.🫤🥴

thanks for uploading this, was fun watching your reaction to it. tip though. once each episode ends, don watch the 'next on fallout' bit, I heard there may be spoilers abound in it. and everything in the series were taken from the game, every, little, detail.

A few good things about the fallout game, particularly number 4 is that you can play 1st person, or 3rd person, or switch back and forth at your own convenience. You can also choose which gender you want. Travel solo, or with a companion (or multiple companions if you have the right mod). Have a pet companion (who is immortal in #4, but not immortal in #3). You can choose to stick to the main quest, or go on the many side quests, or just explore the vast open world at your leisure (both above ground and underground). Some 3rd party Mods allow you to play as say, Keanu Reeves, or as some other actor or celebrity. There is through mods, an almost infinite number of clothing options, hairstyle options, and weapon options. You can use guns or use melee weapons, or both. (Though the IMO the Melee system in TLOU is much better). Then there is the Settlement building option in Fallout 4 allowing you to construct at least 30 different settlement homes and fortresses in the base game. The type of dangerous enemies in the game are many. But so are the many random encounters of unique and unusual NPCs who are not part of any quest. This TV show accurately reflects some of these things. And the commitment to game detail is astonishing! Right up there with TLOU, the gold standard of game adaptations.

This is what I'm interested in, the non-fan reaction. I'm curious about what they think about the Fallout universe in general. They are likely not to notice the little inconsistencies fans seem to be nitpicking, and accept the show for what it is. Does the show stand on its own? That's what I want to know.

It’s interesting to see what non fans think. Fans are pointing at screen every 5 minutes because of things in the games.
