I highly suggest All Thirteen: the Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys’ Soccer Team by Christina Soontornvat! It fits all 4 prompts…1. It’s a record of a true event…2. It involves natural elements such as caves and torrential rains…3. People crossed borders from all over the world to join in the rescue efforts…4. This book is a best kept secret imho 😆 The story of how the boys were rescued is an incredible one and it seems just about every streaming service has made a movie/series about it. This book is very deserving of the many awards it has won in the last two years. Highly recommend!

Thank you, Olive for the recommendations. ELEMENT - Out of my element and comfort zone: My non-fiction selection is The Facemaker by Lindsey Fitzharris. So excited for this! I feel like it's been ages since I read non-fiction, and there are a few I'd like to try and get to this November. Record - The Final Year of Anne Boleyn by Natalie Grueninger. I adore Grueninger's Talking Tudors podcast, and her latest book is essentially a record of the final 12 months of Anne Boleyn's life. Element - The Brief Life of Flowers by Fiona Stafford. I'm interpreting this book as one of the four elements with its links to the earth. Border - The Once and Future Sex by Eleanor Janega. Janega is a brilliant medievalist who often talks about women, sexuality and sex, and her latest book looks at women who subverted what we think of as the medieval norm and therefore crossed borders. Secret - The Lady from the Black Lagoon by Mallory O'Meara. This is a book about makeup artist and designer Milicent Patrick, who was an animator for Disney but also designed the creature in Creature from the Black Lagoon, but her identity was kept secret and credit was given to one of her male colleagues.

The Ride of Her Life: The True Story of a Woman, Her Horse and Their Last Chance Journey Across America. I don’t read many memoirs but I enjoyed this one. Annie was in her 60’s and wanted to see the Pacific before she died. She traveled from Maine on an old horse and with her dog and had adventures. This was in the 1950’s, so she didn’t have an iPhone or gps and very little money. I admired her determination and spirit. She lived much longer than her doctor said she would.

I have the Milky Way book on my list to read soon so I should pick it up this month. Also the sports record book (Lottie Dod?) also sounds great, even if I don't get to it this month. Also, may I suggest "How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming" by Mike Brown? It's a memoir by the astronomer who got Pluto reclassified as a dwarf planet. It's under 300 pages, funny, interesting without being too technical. Because it's a memoir and also because Pluto was the ninth planet in your lifetime, I think you'd like it even if you're not into space.

Hi there. Brand new viewer here, so this challenge is long gone, but I would really like to second the idea that sports books are amazing. I don't watch or play sports. Never have. That being said, I have recently been just gobbling up sports books because they're so good. Record, Element, Border, Secret: Any history of The First World War (or many other wars) would suffice. A _Record_ of many countries _(Elements)_ that crossed _Borders_ to honor _Secret_ treaties.

Based on your previous review @abookolive I reserved the music book from my library and pick-up tomorrow. I'm also looking forward to reading Little Wonder, Newsroom Confidential and Like, Comment, Subscribe. In addition, Matthew Perry's and Michelle Obama's books. Love NFN! #NonfictionNovember

For Record my brain automatically went to medical nonfiction. Mainly the books focusing on how women are often ignored or overlooked with medical issues. I can’t believe I didn’t even think about music lol

So when I saw the word Record, I immediately thought of Queen Elizabeth II cause she broke record by having the longest reign of the British Monarch.

I used to like Farrow until he felt he could determine what books were published, no longer a fan.

Interesting! Based on this comment, I would absolutely suggest "Stolen Focus: Why You Can't Pay Attention--And How to Think Deeply Again" by Johann Hari or even "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie for Nonfiction November!

The youtube book and the Lottie dod books both look good - have added those to my TBR - I plan to read the following books for NFN Secret - The Presidents Book of Secrets by David Priess - Subtitle - The Untold Story of Intelligence Briefings to America's Presidents, This was printed before Trump so it sadly does not include the CIA having to give Trump, pictures every day because he cannot read anything more than the 6th grade!! Record - Chasing History by Carl Bernstein - OR - Caught in the Revolution by Helen Rapaport (A record of the Russian Revolution) - or I might reread All the Presidents Men... Element - I might try The Vanishing Spoon again, but the first time I tried, I found it boring - or I could try and read read The Bastard Brigade - also by Sam Kean - the subtitle says this - The True Story of the Renegade Scientists and Spies Who Sabotaged the Nazi Atomic Bomb - and Atomic can also refer to atomic elements, right? Border - Border can mean edge or outline and to me that means drawing or art - so I plan to read one of many books i have about Leonardo da Vinci - my most favourite artist in history!! His notebooks are full of line drawings - I just dont know which book to read yet!!
