Till Nongstoin Town road is good . From Nongstoin to Weinia falls its about 15mins , that part is not that good but now it might be constructed because last year when we visited , the road was under construction. From Shillong it will take around 4 hours

During January the place may be a bit dry and you might not be getting beautiful view of waterfalls .

If you are starting from Shillong then it might not be possible. Better to stay at Nongstoin or Mawphanlur, then 1st day Nongstoin, Weinia falls , Nongkhnum Island and 2nd day Mawphanlur and Wahrilang

Yes there are public sumos. Please enquire in the taxi or bus stands

Can we directly follow the route given in the Google maps to go upto Nongkhnum islands? I mean is the route accurate?

Our driver knew the route so we didn't have to follow google maps. Till Nongstoin there is network but after crossing Nongstoin there will be network issue and there is no network in Nongkhnum Island. So download google map beforehand. Anyway there will be locals around to guide if needed

Its quite isolated ... if you are in a group then you may consider staying there... otherwise for 1 or 2 person I would recommend staying in Nongstoin or Mawphanlur!! Jio, voda and bsnl didn't work there, cant say about other networks
