His percentage increases in the playoffs and increases more in the dying seconds of the game, when the game is on the line. 1. MJ (kd has a case) 2. KD 3. Kobe (best difficult shot maker here shot league average or above in his prime in the most difficult era to score on the highest volume) 4. Dirk 5. Kawhi 6. Cp3 (you can put them on any order but dirk had better volume and longevity, cp3 inst higher cause it didnt lead to a chip which he had chances to win). 7. Kg (wanted him to be higher but the drop which was his mid range after his prime doesnt sit right, he wasnt dominant as scorer as the guys ahead). 8. Bird. 9. Melo (one is more efficient but less difficult shots, the other made more on harder difficultly, you can decide on either one but birds did led to winning cant say that for melo. 10. Hakkem (the goat mid ranger shooter by a center and greatest post player very underrated)

Hot take: Melo is the Ken Griffey Jr of the NBA: - Never won a ring, primarily played for a franchise that showed flashes but never did much (NY and SEA) - Remembered for the beauty of their game (Melo's pretty jumper and KGJ's perfect swing) - Prolific scorers but never the best scorer in the league
@thepoy9404 Жыл бұрын
I understand what you're trying to say but the biggest differences are Griffey was considered the best player in the league for multiple years he was a great defensive player and baseball is more of a team game so it doesn't matter how great you are you can only control so much i.e Mike Trout so not winning a ring in baseball is looked at completely different.

Larry Bird is way too low! I know they didn't track the shot stats back then but anyone who watched him knew he was was an absolute sniper! Honestly if he was #1 over MJ, i might not have thought twice about it.
@lenerdkawhy77028 ай бұрын
1. MJ (lived there) 2. KD (efficiency and unguardability) 3. Dirk (fathered one-legged fadeaway plus unguardability) 4. Kobe (surreal degree of difficulty shots. Efficiency would''ve been higher had he been more disciplined in shot selection like MJ but one can't stop Mamba from being Mamba.) 5. Kawhi (Super Kawhian in the playoffs and a fun guy) 6. Bird (would've ranked him at 5 above Kawhi were he also a fun guy. His middies so nasty no room for anything fun about it) 7. Melo (deserves it with the eye-test alone) 8. LBJ (not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7)
@leebrandt8597 Жыл бұрын
How is Larry Bird not #1 on this list? Why are you guys even making a list if you're just going to be way off? What are you accomplishing? Larry Bird took around 60% of all his shots from midrange according to WhatIfsports/Basketball Reference, so he lived outside the paint taking jumpers, and made 51% of them. Nobody else on this list comes close to that
@QuestionEverything562 Жыл бұрын
100% agreed. Bird's game was mid-range, and maybe only MJ did it better, and I honestly would take Bird over MJ from middy. Bird was automatic from day one, a natural shooter.

glenn robinson and allen houston should be mentioned here as well. since nba keeps track of shooting locations (96/97) robinson been amongst leaders in mid range shots. he was: 6th in 97 with 9.4 attempts and making 46% 2nd in 98 with 12.3 attempts (45%) 3rd in 99 with 9.6 attempts (44%) 3rd in 00 with 10.3 attempts (48%) 7th in 01 with 9.9 attempts (45%) then he fell out of top 10 in mid range attempts as the league became more of a volume scoring swingmen league, but he would still average around 10 attempts and with a solid 45 to 50 fg% for another couple of years. houston was never amongst the leaders in attempts, but he had a 4/5 year run in late 90s/early 00s where he would take around 9 mid range shots per game and shoot close to 50%. if he played today he would easily be the best mid range shooter.

I thought KD, MJ and Dirk are definitely top 3 before watching this video. CP3 is good, but top 3 is way too high. Plus I don't understand why some people always say Melo has the prettiest jump shot ever. It's from textbook of course, but players like Kobe, MJ and T-Mac who have beautiful fadeaway shot skill are much more aesthetically pleasing to watch IMO. Not to mention Melo has a really big butt. My order is: 1. either MJ or KD depends on your focus on efficiency or production 2. MJ or KD 3. Dirk 4. Kobe 5. Adrian Dantley (most underrated one) 6. Kawhi 7. Bird 8. Gervin (also underrated) 9. CP3 10. Melo (overrated, took too many shots w/ low efficiency)

Very good list. However, KD has played on super stacked teams his entire career. Easier to be efficient when defenses can't focus on just stopping you. MJ, Dirk and Kawhi are all above KD as mid range shooters, IMO. Dantley might be too, but I was too young to watch him play.
