While that seems wild, he's still not wrong about the class. While it's looks a lot sketchier than it did a couple of years ago, Morant, Barrett, Garland, and Herro are all still live chances at the HOF. The problem with this time period was there were pretty much 3 weak drafts in a row. 2000 was historically awful, but 2001/2002 weren’t much better. The basketball was terrible then without an influx of good talent. The incredible 2003 draft changed the trajectory of the league in the right direction
@SchulzEricTАй бұрын
My favorite like that is the '99 draft. A bit overpowered with some true All-Stars at the top (of a re-draft) with guys like Elton Brand, Richard Hamilton, and Manu, plus Baron Davis and Lamar Odom right below that... Steve Francis a classic talent>production guy... but after those, you could still fill out your team with nice starters or key role players like Shawn Marion, Andrei Kirilenko, Ron Artest, Andre Miller, Wally Szczerbiak, Jason Terry, James Posey, Jeff Foster, Devean George, plus undrafted Raja Bell... I mean, if you were a team like DEN (a legit contender, but not as deep as the BOS, OKC types) who just needed depth, imagine the '99 draft allowing you to get AK47 and then Raja Bell in the 2nd round! (I'm not counting Manu in the late 2nd, that's unfair.)
@SchulzEricTАй бұрын
@@dantegood2195 2001 was WAY better than 2000! Tyson Chandler, Pau Gasol, Joe Johnson, Zach Randolph, Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas were all All-NBA or All-Defense guys! 2 Hall of Famers! Then meaningful starters like Shane Battier, Eddy Curry, Gerald Wallace, and finally useful rotational pieces like Jason Richardson, DeSagana Diop, Richard Jefferson, Brendan Haywood, Sam Dalembert, and Jamaal Tinsley. And undrafted gems F Andres Nocioni and PG Carlos Arroyo. That draft was NICE.

1:51 you could have done a better job with the data. Eg draft class by aggregate all star class by itself isn’t very useful. Lebron accounts for literally 1/3 of the 60 selections you cite. Magloire is maybe the worst, least-deserving all-star in NBA history. It's not just easy to say that now, 20 years later. Him being on the all-star team was a joke *at the time.* I distinctly remember John Hollinger writing articles for ESPN about how overrated Magloire was, and how hollow his numbers were- and his numbers weren't even that good. The reason Magloire made the all-star team that one year is because that era- the early 2000's was the worst era in NBA for the center position. There was basically two good centers in the entire league. Shaq and Yao. Both of whom played in the West. That Jamaal Magloire was for a brief little moment the second or third best center in the Eastern Conference is not an illustration of him being good. It's an illustration of the absolute dearth of talent at the center position in the early 2000s. Indeed, that was the very last year the Hornets were in the Eastern Conference. If his career-best 13 and 10 per game had happened year later, they'd have been in the West, and he would have been nowhere near the all-star team. So yeah, the dude is lucky as hell to call himself an all-star. He did play very well in the actual all-star game though, I'll give him that. 19 points. But then again, these are famously the games where nobody ever plays defense, so It's a pretty hollow accomplishment.

I’m not saying it was a great or even good class necessarily. But I think it was more they were right in the middle of the stars who blossomed in the mid to late nineties and the great players in the early 2000s. There are some really solid players you showed on that list. 90s to 2010 was just absolutely loaded

Mehhhhh that draft had a lot of long time vets and champions. Just no big nane stars. And trying to trash Kenyan is NASTY WORK

I remember this draft well. Even in the first season, you never got a vibe that any of those players would be great. Martin was the best one out of all of them but he only looked good because he played with Jason Kidd when he was at his peak. Honestly the next few drafts were bad as well. This was probably why they changed the rules 5 or 6 years later. Hardly any of those guys could not shoot a jump shoot to save their lives. This class and the next few classes after were the reason the 04 Olympic basketball team lost 3 games and only won the bronze medal. Its the worst basketball team ever put together. It was so bad that they had to bring in D Wade, Lebron, and Carmelo Anthony after just their first year in the league.

This class was so bad it pulled down the overall caliber of play in the league for a few years.

Best players of the 2024 NBA playoffs ❤❤!!!!!

They only had 3 players who were All-Stars in their prime like Kenyon Martin, Jamaal Magloire and Michael Redd. That’s it!!! Furthermore, Many of the other high picks, like Stromile Swift and Darius Miles, struggled to make a significant impact in the league. Overall, the class lacked depth and star power, which made them to become the biggest busts of all time.🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
