Common Types of Car Engine Configurations explained, like Boxers, Rotaries, Flats, Inline 4's, Straight 6's, V-engines, W-engines, and so forth. I won't be covering any absurd oddities, only the more common ones in this video. Also my voice sucks in this video since I was sick. Speaking of inline engines, it's also worth noting a lot of semi trucks use inline engines. Most of which being straight 6, large displacement diesels. A few honorary mentions in my opinion being the 3406 Cat, Series 60 Detroit Diesel, and the ISX Cummins, which is still in production to this day.

The inline 6 is a very prevelant engine in diesel applications. Also, many auto makers used inline 6 engines in their pickup trucks, as they produce great amounts of torque, whilst having less horsepower. The Ford 300 I6 was a great example of this, it had 150 HP, and 300 lb ft of torque.

So my dads an engineer and always going on a bout cars. I’m a 23 year old woman and got my license not long ago, didn’t even care about cars but now I find it so cool, my dads been teaching me a lot of stuff. I’m into motorbikes but never really got into cars until I just got my first car.
