Tamurkhan is more of an Everchosen than Archaon is. He unites Warriors of Chaos, Beastmen, Fimir, Norscan and Steppe human tribes, Chaos Dwarfs, and Nurgle Daemons into one semi-united legion. Archaon has to ask for gifts from each of the Chaos Gods in order to get a limited amount of their Daemons and use the Outpost system for the rest of the Chaos factions. Tamurkhan is more of a unifier than the actual Everchosen, but suffers from the same nonsense Karl had to put up with before the Empire rework. Oh well, you win some battles and lose a huge chunk of your army to guerilla fighting Greenskins, meteor slinging Cathayans, Chaos Dwarf artillery, and Empire walls. And that's not including all the infighting between all the warlords in that army.

Yeah, even if a part of me knew the bad guys constantly fight between each other aswell I couldn't help but wonder how the Empire could still stand when they couldn't stop killing each other even as beastmen nurgle and the undead tore them apart. Playing Tamurkhan is a good reminder that, if you think the Good Guys have it bad unifying, the guys with no moral qualms about backstabbing their allies (or hitting them with an axe in the face) have it much worst.

Unifying disparate Chaos Factions is like trying to convince Mongol Outriders to team up with Teutonic Crusaders and Janissaries to go invade England. What makes Order strong is that they can actually stay united despite the constant bickering. When shit hits the fan, they *will* work together. Chaos though? The second their champion dies, or their target is destroyed, or someone doesn't use the proper daemonic syllable... everyone starts brutally killing one another.

Order has High Elf and Dwarf leaders struggling their very best to bury the hatchet long enough to ally against Chaos when necessary. Chaos has followers of Nurgle fighting other followers of Nurgle until someone is strong enough to make them stop by force. Not to mention champions of different gods murdering each other even during Archaeon's invasion during the End Times.

@@Haccoude Yeah that's what people don't seem to get when they say one or other champion of single god would make a better Everchosen, a champion of a single god can never be the Everchosen as the follower of the other 3 would rise up and defeat them. Archaeon as a near impossible task at trying to get followers of the Chaos gods to stop fighting each other long enough to invade the world.

Tamurkhan was probably my favourite addition to fantasy. The story personalized the Chaos tribes, modernized the Chaos Dwarfs, ends in an amazing battle at Nuln whose climax I find to be both grounded and spectacular; helps it came with absolutely fantastic models! It's a crying shame we never got the other 3 brothers (you *cannot* tell me that Vargaroth and Skalok were not meant to be the Khornate one) as build-ups to the End Times, because it'd have made *much* more sense for Archaon to be chosen *after* each God tried and failed to bring on a solo apocalypse, and help explain why he won.

Tamurkhan did have a guide to help him navigate the empire to reach Nulm named Sayl, but he was a mega troll and said nothing while Tamurkhan sieges the wrong city.

Hes not so much a moron or succeeding with pure luck, as that he has to deal with 5 morons all speaking a different language or not at all. While they constantly squabble among themselves, and he can only keep watch over them like a babysitter. Hes got a lot on his plate and is surounded by fools. Youd be bound to make a mistake as well in that situation. But hes wonderfully silly.

Story of how Tamurkhan invaded wrong city reminds me to one story of a viking that wanted to pillage Rome When he got to Italy he saw the biggest city ever, with walls so great that they were impossible to breach. So he thought it must be Rome He managed to come up with a genius plan on how to get inside (his people will pretend that he died and tell romans that their leader wanted to convert, so they'll let them in and inside the church he will jump out of the coffin) His plan worked, but later he learned that he sacked wrong city, and wasn't even close to Rome

Really think the landmark at Nuln you get as Tamurkhan should provide 20 percent physical resistance to simulate his successful apotheosis as we're not likely to get a model for that. Really wish we got those three other books.

This makes me excited for Arbaal the Undefeated. Khorne and the Warriors of Chaos fill my need for massive armored cavalry charges and melee meat grinding. Tamurkhan is now also a part of my Campaign selection with those Rot Knights. Bloodcrushers were always my go to, now it's a mix of the two when I go Undivided.

@@codybonds I have seem some stuff on reddit about it and from what I've seen the only way to get him is to confederate tamurkhan after the ai gets Kazyk. So sadly I don't think Tamurkhan can be confederated by say Belakor or Archaon. Which sucks because I want to treat TW3 like tabletop and have a mountain of legendary heroes. When I heard about the khorne one coming out it brightened my day after a long bout of depression from not being able to run kazykas as chaos undivided.

The funny thing about Tamurkhan in lore is that iirc the only reason he dies during the invasion of the southern Empire is because he refused to give up his powerful ogre body and find a new vessel.

Not exactly, his body kept mutating and growing stronger. In fact Tamurkhan actually won his duel with Bruckner, but the magical anti maggot amulet Bruckner was given went off and nuked the entire area they were fighting in.

In the end. Tamurkhan realized his personal victory was nothing in the eyes of Nurgle, and gladly sacrificed his army and self to try and open a chaos rift and let Nurgles minions swarm the Empire.

Not really. Tamurkhan did try getting a new one with Theodore Buckner's but got blown up by the latter's amulet given to him by Elspeth. Although the book does say that some suspected that the raw brute strength of the ogre influenced Tamurkhan and perhaps the spirit of the old tyrant was resisting him.

If I recall correctly, initially the body of an Ogre Tyrant was a great prize for Tamurkhan, and he could only get stronger yet; but that blindsided him to such a degree that when his Ogre Tyrant body started to rot (because, well, nature. And Nurgle. Definitely Nurgle too) he refused to look for something new, arguing that he'd never get anything that wasn't a direct downgrade. As a result, due to the long campaign, his body gradually decreased in strength to the point where Bruckner could match the Ogre in combat power. Then, when it looked like the Ogre did go down, Tamurkhan did his thing and tried to latch onto Bruckner, which was when the kamikaze amulet Elspeth gave to Bruckner as 'protection' exploded and killed both Bruckner and the maggot, killing him for good. If he had made a switch earlier, he might still have had enough power to beat Bruckner

My reasons are that sieges now feel like a capture the flag game instead of war. The supplies and build a tower/barricade gameifies a battle simulation. I’m not a fan of pocket ladders either. But as you said many people enjoy this new system.
