I saw you making a gyro, I didnt realize that this game actually uses the theories of ridgity in space and that the vehicle actually basically rotates around the gyro in it.

GuyWitADrone it uses centrifugal force the weights spin in opposite directions

I would have had the same idea to use the free floating bearings, but I would have forgotten to actually spin it to use gyroscopic force. My first idea for this challenge was to put a large metal weight under the pole to use gravity as your constant. That was an awesome creation

Well that's not a bad idea, if you add that to what Kan already have that would counteract the movement and make it more stable avoiding some of the center shifting

Multiplayer Monday Idea- Start the race at the garage, without the 15 minute build timer. start the race from the beginning, and build as you go. hope that made sense

That was actually pretty insightful. Kosmo had a pretty good design. If it was done with some logic and sensors, it had the potential to automate too. Kosmo's learning quickly. He'll be a pro by the time you guys revisit these challenges. How about a hover or flight challenge next?

Interesting. This is one of the few times I've intuitively come up with a similar solution to the one Kan actually used. I was wondering if you could use an reaction wheel and some sort of omnidirectional joint to keep it automatically balanced, under the assumption that he wouldn't bother with something anywhere near that complicated, then he started building a reaction wheel. The main difference was I was thinking about putting the reaction wheel near the top of the pole and the joint at the bottom, rather than having the wheel at the base and making the entire thing rotate.

I think you could make the gyro even better by putting the zeroing pistons on the bottom of the build, not allowing the pistons to come in contact with the explosion pole.

That terrain flashing is called z fighting. Basically, when two meshes are incredibly close together (most often they are parallel and in the same position, but can occur with slight variance), floating point errors cause the camera to not know which should be rendered over the other, thus they appear different depending on their relative position to the camera. In short, the camera is confused.

tbh, wouldnt it be easier and more reliable to instead of making the gyro, make it weighted like the old ship candle holders? so like, use the same construction, but instead of the rotating parts make it botom heavy so i would always tilt itself down

Opisek I don’t own scrap mechanics, so don’t know how well it would perform in that engine But if it is weighted right and the hinges are smooth it shouldn’t be swinging too much and just keep stable It would swing a little bit on start and stop, but that should help the balancing item not get thrown of, but ease it in to the motion (in irl theory, don’t know how well scrap mechanic physics work)

@@JakubVymetal I see the point you're making, but unfortunately I don't think it would work in Scrap Mechanic, unless you'd use mods with blocks of a very high density. Trying to build a mechanism with the vanilla blocks wouldn't be possible (given we want a stable version) at any reasonable scale.

Noob vs Pro no wheels challange? Creation cannot have have wheels so pistols will have to push your creation or something? Thrusters allowed for steering only Kosmo can do better than putting squares on bearings and powering them, he's improved for sure :) Great vid as always Kan :)

Actually resetting the gyro you can do it even when not on flst ground. The pistons make it allign with thevehicle that’s all you need

They keep the gyro level because of their angular momentum. If you want to experience the effect spin a bike wheel fast then try to rotate it left/right about the axel. The wheel will try to resist that motion.
