Logitech G Pro Direct Drive - Is it Really Pro?

I tried the Logitech Pro and enjoyed it more than the CSL DD, but they need wheel options to fully enjoy it. Even a universal style hub similar to Fanatec so you could bolt on whatever wheel need would be an easy addition to the line up and solve the issue. Great video as always, can't wait to do more testing

I just re-watched this review, it was part of the reason we bought a G Pro 10 months ago. I am also in my 50's and just love racing. I used to on my old Logitech MOMO wheel. My son is seriously into sim racing and a good reason to buying new gear. We just got the new RS track wheel and it is a great addition to the rig.

I've had the G Pro wheel and Pedals now since they came out and I think they are great. I stepped up from the G29 and the difference is amazing. Tried to get a Fanatec, (only because of the name), but that and nothing else was available here in Australia at that time. But I can tell you I certainly don't regret buying this kit. I have it clamped to my very solid computer desk and it never even moves. But maybe if they had waited a little longer then they could have given 2 wheel options, because I certainly would have gone for a Formula style wheel. And after spending over 2k on this kit I will be waiting a little while to update the wheel. But don't get me wrong, this wheel is fantastic and I don't regret spending that money. Hi, got a question for you on your pro steering wheel - the O button top right does it function the same as the other buttons I just bought one of these things and the O button sticks even in the lower pushed position and I’m having a hell of a time with Logitech trying to get a replacement wheel just wondering if anybody’s had that same experience and how your steering wheel buttons are working

I've had the Logitech pro for five weeks now and it's great. It's just a shame they don't have a formula wheel yet because then it would be totally awesome. The 11NM of maximum power is good but to have something left over and not to overload the engine I have it set to 9 NM which is also more than enough. Together with the trueforce technology it gives just that little bit more as a Fanatec or a Moza which is in the same price range. But I'm afraid people won't buy the Logitech because it's just a Logitech and not a Fanatec. That's a shame because it's a really good product in my opinion.

I seriously wish I went with this Logitech G Pro racing wheel instead of dealing with Fanatec. I had this one and the Fanatec to chose from and already being aware of the issue/problems with dealing with Fanatec, I took the risk during their Black Friday deals (Nov 27th), bought many stuff, didn't expect the shipping to take forever and hoped to get everything before the 22 of this month at least, but days go by and it looks like it will take longer than that to arrive since I haven't even received a tracking number. At this point I don't even want to keep their stuff once I receive them and would rather sell them for the same price I bough them just to get rid of them fast than to deal and expect a fast refund from Fanatec. Will be getting the Logitech G Pro now which I'm positive will arrive faster and would rather deal with their customer support.

@@sonyx5332 I don't know where you live but in Europe the service from Fanatec is great. It's a known issue that the service in de VS is crap. You can also look voor Moza but as i said i don't know where you live and if Moza is available in your country.

1:24 Isn't it the exact opposite? Xbox version has no PS5 security chip. But the PS5 version has it in the base. Later you can swap the PS5 wheel for an XBOX wheel (chip in the wheel) and you can use it on all 3 systems. But if you buy the xbox version you will never have ps5 compatibility. that's the info from Logitech.

New to your channel, very thorough but not boring review style. Esp you mentioning it's a separate transducer for trueforce, some videos have it confused and think it's coming from the DD motor itself which would diminish fidelity. I'm looking to buy the pro set as my first wheel because it seems all paths lead to DD, I think the feeling of the G29 is poor and in NZ for console it's either thrustmaster or Logitech. Logitech has great support and generally reliability too. The OLED screen is another boon to all esp console users.

Really enjoyed your comments on this new equipment. I think I am finally convinced to upgrade from my Thrustmaster T-GT, to this direct drive. I am only a PS5 Gran Turismo 7 player. I do have Fanatec Club Sport V3 pedals that I do like, but the Logitech seem comparable.

To clarify on what you said regarding compatibility; the Xbox Verification chip is in the Xbox wheel, but the PlayStation chip is in the wheel base. So you would need a PlayStation wheelbase with an Xbox wheel for full compatibility. Unless they've changed it since launch.

@@lonelyboysole the point is Licensing. Logitech pays Sony & Microsoft for their device to be compatible with their consoles, and gets the chips that verify each device for each console. The difference is that the PlayStation chip is mounted on the PCB of the Wheelbase & the Xbox chip is mounted on the PCB in the Wheel. They're not allowed to sell a unit that is universally compatible without violating their contract. The workaround would be for Logitech to sell Xbox compatible wheels standalone that PlayStation users can buy.

Being a fellow Canadian, I've looked into getting a DD wheel a few times and found between exchange rates, shipping fees, & import fees, the G Pro is honestly fairly competitively priced vs. the likes of Fanatec or Moza.

I've priced out the Moza R9, Fanatec CSL GT DD Pro, and the Logitech G Pro and the price between the three only differs by about $30 in Canadian Maplebux. For the extra FFB, Trueforce, and G Hub software, the Logitech just edges out the competition, at least for me. Plus there's the option to spread the payments out over a few months which makes the price of it easier to manage.

i just sold my csl dd kit because i wanna take a break from simracing until Assetto Corsa 2 comes out (or a proper "next gen" sim for that matter) and then i will look again what the market has to offer. I will be very interested to know what the thrusmaster direct drive has to offer. before going direct drive for the first time with the csl dd i had the thrusmaster t300rs and loved it as far as belt driven wheels go.

I bought one to replace a G29. Wow. Huge leap in performance. I see a lot of complaints about the steering wheel's appearance. Doesn't bother me as I race in VR most of the time. I see what ever wheel is equipped on the car. But the quick release should be a clue for the future. Hopefully some new wheels/shifters/handbrakes will appear.

Are you sure about the compatibility? From what I have learnt, the PS set works with PS and PC thanks to the compatibility chip in the wheelbases and the Xbox version works with PC and Xbox thanks to the compatibility chip in the wheel. None version works with both consoles.

For Console Users: Based on other reviewers that have claimed to have talked to Logitech, the Ps5 version base has the ps chip in it's base and xbox chip is in the xbox wheel. If Logitech puts out an Xbox wheel only (without the base) you should be able to put the xbox wheel onto a Ps base and be able to use on both consoles, probably by putting on the right wheel. I have not been able to find anyone that has tried swapping them yet and I would not expect Logitech to confirm this until it is a proven product. I got the ps5 version of the Pro wheel and base as an upgrade for a G923 (xbox version) and I am hoping the xbox Pro wheel will be offered by itself in the future. I will keep the G923 that I got a while ago for the xbox just in case this is wrong. I am sure Logitech did not put the quick release feature in the Pro if it doesn't plan to add rim options in the future. My new PS5 Pro is in the mail now and I am really excited to try out the DD and TrueForce. Most of the Pro wheel reviews have been very positive. Also as a warning, the pro pedals are out of stock right now Feb 2023 and they are the only pedals you can use on consoles with the Pro Wheel. I would not order the wheel and base until the pedals are also available. Hopefully Logitech will fix this issue with adapters to allow the options that PC users enjoy. Enjoy the Pro!

I was happy with my G923 and didn't plan to upgrade for a long time, then Amazon gave me an offer my weak self control couldn't withstand, so I'm a few days in on mine. I'm still astonished just how much better this thing is and I'm glad I don't regret upgrading so soon. Wish I just got this to begin with. I know I might be able to piece together a comparable setup for the same price or cheaper, but I use Logitech peripherals so it's awesome having everything controlled by one program. Maybe if I talk about the pedals Amazon will hear me and offer a deal on them too.. For now I'm stuck keeping the 923 plugged in so I can use the pedals, since their adapter doodad is out of stock.

Is the compability here correct? I hear the security chip in the PS version is in the base, while the Xbox security chip is in the wheel. So others say the exact opposite - the PS wheel supporting all three IF you can get a Xbox wheel (which they don't sell separately)

I won’t deny I started off with the mobile than the G 27 then I went to the G9 23 and now I have a pro. Pin Sim racing now for probably 15 years maybe 20 and frankly the pro. We’ll meet all my expectations so far love it with our factor two. And true force is unbelievable in ACC. Truly truly shines in ACC.

i came from a csl DD and i have fanatec podium on my other rig this logitech pro impressed me much better than the csl DD it give you more details on the road than the csl but its not as good as my podium but damn near close

Getting the PC/PS version does NOT allow playing on Xbox afaik. the Xbox version has a chip in the wheel that gives the Xbox console the go ahead to connect. The PC/PS version does NOT have that chip. If you have both versions you can plonk the Xbox wheel on the PC/PS version wheel base and then you have the best of all 3 worlds; PC/PS/XB.

another thing - didn't knew that you play this kind of sim too - 1 month ago i bought logitech g923 with shifter and pedals - i wanted to play forza horizon 4 and 5 but in both games i got problems recognising my g923 - but theres not this problem that i get the error ingame like "Device not connected" and such problem fixes doesn't fix it for me in settings i don't get the wheel name and i can press pedals in example and i cannot bind anything do you maybe got a problem fix for me? unplug and plug it back in while i am ingame doesn't work in games like Euro Truck Sim 2 it works perfectly, in star citizen i can use pedals and wheel too, but i just get it to work to drive backwards 😂

If I would be more a racer gamer not pilot gamer probably I would try that set especially after that detailed review 👏👏👏👏 shame that Logitech is not able high end or at least mid end HOTAS ;( I would gladly see Logitech G Pro HOTAS/HOSAS set. x56 set is good for high entry level experiences with flights but everyone can say that in compare to concurrency… as a Logitech fan which is using G913, G903(unfortunately mouse buttons are very bad in that model) changed to G502x plus and G915, and knowing how good Logitech can be with their high end stuff, I’m totally surprise that they did not show any new set for pilots/flying sims. Set presented by you is only showing how good Logitech is in making gaming gears and we can imagine how good new HOTAS/HOSAS set from that company could/would be 😢

I love open world racing games that also have tracks, much like Forza Horizon. Unfortunately that game series is too arcade to use anything other than a good controller. One day when they bring sim-level gameplay to an open world, I might look into getting a DD wheel.

Forza horizon doesnt have closed circuit track. Its just open world racing. Forza motorsport is the closed circuit racing. These games are awesome and fun on wheels. I enjoyed them with the g920 and now enjoying them on the G pro. It all comes down to ffb/wheel settings in-game.

It's good to see more entry level Direct Drive options, though I think they could all do with being cheaper if this is going to conquer the market and make high quality Sim properly accessible to gamers. I had a number of cheaper Logitech's that gave me thousands of hours of fun. I ended up getting a Fanatec DD 8nm and have been very happy with it but I really think the peripherals are poor value. The drift wheel is literally a 500 dollar circle, the QR1 should be standard.

PS works with PS. XBOX works with XBOX, XBOX base with PS Wheel, works with both. PS Base with XBOX Wheel does not. SIMPLE

Yeah, that's my biggest question as well.. will Logitech use their massive market power to push plug&play compatibility with premade profiles, or will it be the same hassle as with Fanatec's lineup... if the former, it could be a MAJOR USP for the Logitech product!

Its literally plugb and play for console and pc. Dont need ghub. Everything can be adjusted from the base, from ffb, trueforce, rotation, brake force, damper, filter, etc.

This video got the compatibility wrong. If you get the PS wheel base version you can play on PC and PS5 and can get a Xbox wheel to be able to play on all platforms. If you get the Xbox version you *can’t* do the work around. If you plan on getting this wheel base make sure you get the PS version

I can only hope one day those "mainstream" flight sim gear manufacturers, especially Logitech, can stop making those decades-old toys and make something like this...even those few "Elite" "niche" brands as well. The bar of flight sim gear is just too low yet overpriced everywhere if you compare it to the hardware of other games, like racing sim perhaps. FFB is almost non-existing and if you want a "realistic feeling" like that 100kg load cell, DIY or semi-DIY is the only way. I mean, it's just 20-30lbs max stick force, 100lbs-class max force for certain rudder pedals, if sim racing gear can do it... but what do we have now? Even those elite niches can barely provide the force in half of the amount...dampers are there but are not the best(mainly due to the stiction) and I'm not sure features like breakout force are correctly simulated, let alone those non-existing ones such as asymmetric travel on the pitch axes...

I avoid Logitech like the plague now, had two keyboards that had faulty/sticky keys and a mouse with same issues. Both high end gaming and made in the last two years.

They used to make really solid products though. I've had my Logitech G25 steering wheel for about 15 years, and is still good as new. Quality has certainly dipped recently.

Unless they've changed their business practices, I don't recommend Logitech. I tried to return a defective wireless keyboard one day and they jerked me around for 45 minutes before issuing me an RMA.

@@ghazman6141 I am not famous and had similar experience. I have the G915 and when wiping it one of the rubber mode buttons came off. They cannot be put back so they sent me a new keyboard. That button isn’t really needed so I have two keyboards. Excellent customer service in my experience.

trueforce is not a extra transducer, its driven by dd wheel and is a gimmick for new sim racers who if you notice are primaraly the only people with glowing opinions of it.
