NOODLE TOUR!!! Insanely Loaded Bún Gánh Noodles in Hanoi, Vietnam!!

Back in Hanoi for a few more videos!
Wanted to do this for awhile, a Noodle Tour!
Bún & Mì Tim Cật - Minh Khai- First noodle of the day, Mi Tim Cat. A noodle with some unusual protein sources but when you are cooking them right like this lady did, then no wonder she is only open a couple hours a day.

Bún ziu gánh - cô Yến - Now, for another noodle which I have never had the Bún Gánh. Loaded with about every ingredient you could imagine. I went thap cam and made one minor change as I wanted the banh da noodles. A very popular flat noodle in Hanoi. What resembled so many bowls of noodles I have eaten before, yet so different, this is such a fun bowl of noodles to eat as the toppings are insane.

Wanting to switch it up I went for the mien ga. After my first bite, I realized why this place has been open 28 years and pulling in the big time crowds. A flavor packed chicken broth, delicious ginger dipping sauce, and a soft, oh so soft, blood cake.

Hi Max, in Vietnam you can ask for more "nước lèo" / "nước dùng" when you feel your bowl is dryer ( cạn nước dùng). Don't be shy. Will occur no fee when you ask for it. Love your food tour ^^

So one of things I love about your channel is the honesty amongst many other things. I was turned off from the first noodle lady. Anyone taking noodles out a noodle package and boiling it is not for me. Also she had a glove on the hand she used fir the knife but no glove on the hand she was touching the meat with. It looked pretty good but opening a noodle package he’ll go to 7-11 and do that. The second place looked great I’m not much of organs and blood stuff but it doesn’t mean I won’t each time it and I do appreciate it. Food makes the world go around even stuff you don’t care for. I just love the way you tell it like it is that’s important. Have a great day or evening I’m not sure what time it is there so I’ll cover both bases.

I’m sure they use msg to make food flavorful but it’s not poison that kills you or makes you sick right away. The locals have been enjoying these food stalls and still living just fine. And what makes you think 5 star restaurants don’t use whatever the hell “chemicals” you think these street vendors use? Lol shit, American foods are full of preservatives and gmo we get sick and still eat the damn fast food lol. Have a balanced diet you’ll be fine✌️

If you like "bánh rán ngọt" (sweet rice ball doughnut), you can try "bánh rán mật" (molasses rice ball doughnut) at 52 Hàng Chiếu, near Đồng Xuân Market. "Bánh rán mật" is one of my favorite snacks and quite famous in Hanoi. :) If you are a fan of sticky rice, should try "xôi khúc". If you love "chả", you can buy them in markets or some store selling "chả". Ah, try "chả rươi" if you can.

With all the Asian food videos the presenter ALWAYS adds so many condiments. Some even before they have tasted the original. I think it is terrible offending. If I had cooked it, I would make it portable so they can eat it at home! The hot oil is numbing every tastebud. And why these HUGE bites? No room to chew ☺☺ But I love to watch because what it is and what are the ingredients. And the speed it is prepared. Amazing.

Noodles are hard to make - starting from the rice and undergoing the grinding and steaming process before the final touch as the noodles. Enjoy it for the good things .

The first time I had bun canh I was so surprised that changing the noodles and veggies of bun rieu makes it bun canh but it’s still so different. I love sate(chilli oil). I want to meet you and fight over the chilli oil with you haha (friendly ofc). I find it funny that these Vietnamese lady’s wear gloves on the hand that doesn’t touch the food and use their bare hands on the food. Idc just funny I love that you actually try the soups before adding your sauces. Other youtubers change the broth before trying it then complain when they wrecked it themselves..

About the glove part, I'm also confused. I think she started with the right intention of using the gloves to pick the food up, but then the place got crowded and orders start to build up and they got confused and use the wrong hand for the wrong thing. xD

In your second dish - bánh đa thập cẩm, it is "giò tai", not "giò thủ". Because "giò thủ" in Hanoi is having every part of pig heart, braised, and connected by the gelatine from pig skin, so it cant stand the heat. Giò tai is made from pig ear and pork, is connected by meat and flour, so it can stand the heat.

Just matters what part of Vietnam you are in, like Saigon, I would say the eating out scene is a bigger deal. Hanoi, I feel like people eat in homes more. If out in the country like the Mekong, you walk out back and grab whats for dinner. So just differs everywhere.

Điều khá hay về việc ăn uống đường phố ở VN, đấy là dù bạn có địa vị cao hay bạn có giàu có cỡ nào, thì khi ăn ở đường phố VN là bạn sẽ phải ngồi trên cái ghế bé tí đấy. Bạn như có thể trút bỏ 1 phần phiền hà của cuộc sống cá nhân, sống chậm lại.Tận hưởng hoà mình cùng với cảnh quang và người dân xung quanh. Không cần phải mặc quần áo đẹp như khi đến nhà hàng, không cần các cử chỉ ăn uống quá lịch thiệp như khi đi tiếp khách. Điều đơn giản ở đây là chỉ cần ăn theo cách mà bạn thích.

That second dish is banh da(brown noodle) and is a speciality in hai phong. You can find it almost everywhere in Hai phong. I eat it all the time when I go back home.
