The moment many have waited for all last year is finally here: It's time to kick off the 74th edition of the iconic Festival di Sanremo!

Angelina was present at the concert where her father died. She was only thirteen years old and witnessed the whole thing live. He suffered a massive heart attack and died on the way to the hospital. Mango was a genius of pop and electronic music. 'La rondine' is an iconic song from the early 2000s, full of electropop overtones. For us Italians it was a very emotional moment, Pino Mango was an icon, even if not recognised enough for me. Here the arrangement is different, slower and more intense, Angelina's brother, Filippo, did the arrangement. "La rondine" is about a distance and the feeling of leaving the nest and not being able to find that connection with anyone, it is impressive how now the meaning changes completely (or almost) being a daughter singing to her deceased father, everything makes it all the more emotional. Touching.

This performance is so emotional and heartbreaking, Angelina was so young and having to witness it that day at the concert is something really traumatic 😢. It broke me when I heard her singing La Rondine at San Remo

I admit that I was also moved and wanted to listen to this song about twenty times because I was a great admirer of Angelina's father. For those who are not Italian and do not know the past of the Sanremo Festival, it may be incomprehensible to see so much applause, the standing ovation from the audience in the room, the tears of emotion... Angelina's father, Pino Mango, was not just a singer with an incredible voice, but he was a true poet of melodic and romantic Italian song: however, despite having participated 7 times in the San Remo Festival, his father Pino Mango had never won. Her daughter, however, participated for the first time this year and triumphed by singing a song by her father. I think from heaven Pino Mango is now very proud of his daughter Angelina and that justice has been done!

È bello che molti fan di Angelina propongano ad alcuni youtuber stranieri di fare la video-reaction di questa esibizione, ma la verità è che chi non conosce e capisce abbastanza bene l'italiano non potrà mai emozionarsi davvero come abbiamo fatto noi quel venerdì sera. Infatti mi domando come chi faccia questi video riesca a rimanere impassibile di fronte a questa performance, mentre io ho pianto fiumi durante quell' esibizione, ma anche al secondo ascolto, e al terzo. E la motivazione è tutta qui. La parte più commovente è quando canta "baciandoti sulla bocca lo scriverò un'altra volta", la sua voce spezzata, la sua espressione del viso, la sua commozione... dicono tutto. Esibizioni del genere non ce ne saranno mai più. Forza Angelina! Ti adoriamo. ♥️

@@Sebbuz11 non è poi così difficile capire perché Geolier ha vinto le cover ... Erano in 4 a cantare sul palco e tutti con un enorme seguito di fan ... Se sommi i fan di Geolier più i fan di Luchè più i fan di Guè più quelli di Gigi D'Alessio e moltiplichi il tutto per i 5 voti possibili a persona capisci la disparità che si è verificata quella sera ... C'erano sicuramente almeno altre 5/6 esibizioni migliori del Medley di Geolier che a mio avviso forse non meritava neanche la top 10 quella sera 🤬

The lyrics, the story of the singer and his father (the author) hidden behind this song, the performance and the Sanremo context with more than 60% of italian audience in front of the their own TVs, all those stuffs just made this event one of the most emotional moment of the Italian TV in the last 50 years. In realtà Angelina è figlia d'arte sia da parte di papà Pino, ma anche da parte di mamma Laura. La mamma, Laura Valente è un'ottima cantante e fu la frontwoman del famoso complesso dei Matia Bazar, dopo che da questo uscì Antonella Ruggiero. Angelina ha preso il particolare timbro di voce, il carisma e la creatività dal padre Pino, la capacità interpretativa la potenza e l'estensione vocale dalla madre Laura. Esiste un documento di una rara volta in cui i due cantanti si esibiscono assieme: Sanremo 2007, Pino Mango e Laura Valente, la canzone è Chissà se nevica. Il video è da vedere.

The Sanremo festival is NOT the selection of the winner for the ESC! It is the ESC that copied Sanremo! The first edition dates back to 1951, the ESC started 5 years later and was unabashedly inspired by the SANREMO festival. The Sanremo festival is simply the annual representation of Italian music, the winner is asked IF he/she wants to participate in the ESC but is not obliged, if he/she doesn't accept he/she is asked to someone else. By the way, Italy has not even participated in the ESC for 20 years, so please get it through your head that the Festival is not a selection, but an internal competition.

I like how you really feel the total sadness and grief and love... As somebody else pointed out, "La Rondine" (the swallow) is one of the most known Angelina's father. She's now 22, at her first Sanremo, and he died when she was 13. "La rondine" sings about a gone love (refrain at 3:46 says "Despite you are My swallow flown away You are my interrupted fly You are my step in the void Where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Only love i would ever live again You taste of northern wind You taste of good but not of us Same half moon You are in the wrong sky". But here the "gone love" is not anymore the person her father thought about... It's now her father himself, the author of the song.... Hello! First of all, thank you for listening to this wonderful song. " the swallow" is a love song, but it talks about a person now distant, at least physically... Think of a great love that is no longer there, but remembering the feeling that there was and that is still present, very strong. You even sing "sei nel cielo sbagliato" ->(you’re in the wrong sky) and you might even revisit a reference to death. Now imagine seeing a daughter singing these words thinking of her father... it was a very strong emotion for all of Italy.

That would be great, also bevause Italians still opt for their native language, a distinction in eurovision nowadays where all countries choose English leaving behind their identity and the identity of eurovision.... In add if say that eurovision has become some sort of a hand-wash support ( ex. Ukraine last year, where others were doubtless way better..)

I know in general you don't like ballads very much and I'm convinced to appreciate this performance it's crucial to understand what she's singing about....la rondine is the swallow... it's a love song but it's above all about longjng for something that's gone away.... when she sings " dove sei?" It means where are you.... "sei nel cielo sbagliato"... you are in the wrong sky..."nonostante tu sia la mia rondine volata via".. it's even though you're my swallow gone away..."il mio libro mio non ti leggerò"..it's you're my book, mine, I'll never read...I can't imagine her feelings in that moment..I've lost my mother when I was a child and I know moments of intense longing accompany all our life..her emotion wow I was crying like a baby

there are two really emotional and sad things to add: 1-it was the first time that angelina mango sings a her father's song in pubblic; 2-the lyrics! the words of the text seem tailor-made for his story...specially when she sings "Dove sei? Dove sei?" ("where are you? where are you?") is a desperate cry to the father

Those spins at first bothered me too, but I think they simulate the flight of the swallow (and the song is called "La Rondine", swallow in Italian). I want to believe that it is a finesse of the direction

I often notice that on KZbin everyone who makes song reactions, they almost all make the same mistake. They never open Google translator for a couple of seconds and type in the song title to hear the correct pronunciation from a native speaker. It would only take a couple of seconds before they start the videos. PS: I could understand it very well if it were very difficult languages, like Arabic or Chinese or something like that, but I can't understand why they don't do it with our Italian language.

@@ILCARB2 Sono un po’ tutti uguali questi qui su KZbin. Spesso poi chiedono al pubblico come si pronuncia questo e come si pronuncia quello, scusandosi della pronuncia sbagliata. Ed io che mi trovo spesso in questi casi a suggerire….. ma prendete semplicemente due secondi un traduttore sopra uno smartphone e ascoltate la pronuncia originale di quel titolo o di una determinata parola, visto che sui traduttori c’è questa funzione. Basterebbero pochi secondi di preparazione prima di partire con un video. Se fossi io al posto loro a fare qualcosa del genere, prima di chiedermi come si pronuncia “la rondine” o qualche altra cosa, prenderei semplicemente in mano uno smartphone ed aprirei Google translator, visto che ce l’abbiamo su tutti i dispositivi.

Really you didn't get why?! They don't do it because (they are often not really interested in what they watch…) if they do it nobody will write comments about infos and mistakes: more comments, more interactions, more YT algorithm, more views. That's it

one suggestion if I may: maybe it d be useful to have before your eyes the lyrics while listening to her performance, for the lyrics are the reason of her emotional delivery.

I don’t know why but it remembers me the “Happy prince” from Oscar Wilde with Disney’s golden era music. I don’t think it will ever reach Disney but hey, Disney throw away the garbage you are working on and get this.
