Interestingly, there is no path-finding at this time. The path is generated when you set origin/dest and doesn't change. You can see this when you set a train's orig/dest then delete some rails. The arrows still show over ground and the trains will continue down that original path and come to a stop where you have deleted the rail. Only by resetting either origin/dest will the path then update. In the beta branch, stations are now gone and you place trains instead which should remove this issue. The auto-path-update is one of the top feature/bug fix requests.

Also, towards the end, you completed 2 levels at the same time. You had already increased the temperature by 30, and already had a population of 1000 in your 2nd city, so levels 12 and 13 completed right away.

The metal waste disposal is bottlenecked by having only 1 mk 2 depo within range, which is stunting your city growth.

start making trees from excess water from icecaps at about -10 you can plant them in green areas and they will grow into forests, that takes alot of time so better have many starter trees

Best part is, you only need a few trees. Once the forest grows you can bulldoze it and transplant the trees across the planet

Hi Nilaus ! Great video as always :P I think one way to handle priority is by placing a depot one hexagon from a station and another one on the opposite side 2 hexagons appart, that way the trains will fill from the closest one and then take the surplus needed from the depot further out, in theory it would work i think but it might need some cool designs which i'm sure you can handle pretty well :D

I wonder if Nilaus has considered a planetary resource bus that rings the equator xD You can keep track of all your resource outputs at any time, because they will all feed into the main bus. Will probably be a terrible system, but just imagine the lines o__o

Seems like limitations to train stations necessitate creating large factory builds doing mass production with several input/output train stations. Smaller factory builds don't seem to work as well because you'll constantly have to build out different logistics lines for the same material

You could do the hex build but just line them so there is plenty of long straight lines and not in a honeycomb pattern.
@dasiro

that's not effective: you're then wasting a lot of space and that ain't infinite in this game like in factorio. The hexagon is the optimal surface-build and I don't think train speed is much affected by turns

28:00 'how to priority' Not sure if it would work, but what I would try, Is to use the daisy-chain. Have 2 import stations, either directly for the city itself: or on a 'create the priority'-station. Have the 'priority-import' (I assume recycling output) closer to the output (either the city, or a station with 3 stops, 1 per city) with a 'somewhat-significant' number of depots to the 'lower-priority'-station. The path will cost the '1 resource per jump' (only redistribute if the difference is 2 or more, it's not rebalancing otherwise). This makes that the distant (low prio) station can never cap the close/prio one. If the lines are really long, this might still be an issue (as 'prio-station can unload *something* ' is guaranteed, but 'can unload *all* ' is not). I like the 'multiple supply-stations per city'-balancing mechanic too. Might play with that one, if I get the game myself (in a week or 2 probably)
@dasiro
@dasiro Жыл бұрын
Recycling is gonna be a huge deal I think, because those resource-patches aren't gonna last forever unless the requirements transition into materials that can be created out of thin air. That's why I'm using trucks to limit my building production and even cut the factories off when I've got enough of a specific building

Only way I have been able to institute priority into this is to use the recycled material as input into the same production module that uses Ore-produced Steel & Aluminum Bars. Then I can control the input via number of trains/trucks to control the flow rate. It’s a little fiddley. I needed to make a spreadsheet that track demand and supply from the cities to track consumption versus recycle. In-game priority is a good ask for the devs….
@wcorning
@wcorning Жыл бұрын
I'm sure you've learned this by now but it is absolutely necessary to warehouse materials to ensure your waste disposal doesn't deadlock. I built something like LTN with item depots for stockpiles direct from source and then separate trains to demands. Works really well but performance is not good with so many drones and trains. Couldn't find an easier solution though without intense micro.
@Tenebrousable
@Tenebrousable Жыл бұрын
There's no real permanent priorization mechanics available in the game that I have found. Best I can come up with, is to downscale number of trains from the aluminium ore refining location so much that, waste disposal will start having room at the high tech fabrication location. 2nd hypothesis could be, Make the waste disposal adjacent to high tech fab, so that copters will feed it always. And then train feeding aluminium from external location into the middle. So that, external aluminium can be unloaded from the trains only if there's room. It will pause waste disposal momentarily, untill high tech continues eating it.
@Tenebrousable

Looks like, 1 depot other side of tracks, can not empty waste disposal fast enough. The depot is empy, and waste disposal is complaining fullness.

Hi! Nilaus, you can build differents waste disposals and supply centers in the same city so it's easier to take care of the necessities of the cities. Also you should stop the production of roads and the stuff that you don't need.

we're discovering the game together at around the same time, who knows what crazy combo's are still going to come and require resources that come out of the cities as waste. Without the bigger picture it's hard to come up with layouts and ratio's.

Just a couple tips for you or anyone whos started, the path to getting cities to their max level (fully self sufficient imputs/outputs 100k pop) is difficult. I found you need at least 3 depots and waste stations to effectively get enough in and out of the city. My setup ended up being to have 4 dedicated depots and wastes per resource in order to keep up with city demand and future expansion. Also, the safest path to get your cities to their max level is to focus 1 at a time. I almost lost my first run by running out of sulfur, which happens far faster then i realized given that cities consume resources continuously. I ended up just shutting off the other two cities reinforced concrete only feeding them the renewable resources until my first city made it to its max level. Also, if your cities flood, keep them supplied and they'll just rebuild and "migrate" away.
@mytiliss682
@mytiliss682 Жыл бұрын
I don't know about speed, but it seems more efficient to grow all cities to produce metal waste first, so you won't have to rely on mining, it's embarrassing even with T2 warehouses. Then use secondary to grow capital to 100k and then capital to grow secondary. Have to maintain equilibrium with inexhaustable resources for sure.
@tlpineapple1
@tlpineapple1 Жыл бұрын
@@mytiliss682 You have to get them to that pop as apart of one of the missions. I dont know if my method is the fastest, but i raised both other cities to 10k to produce organic waste as food is hard to come by

@@tlpineapple1 food is quite easy to get, just recycle waste farm coal and add bit of nitrogen. The hardest part is the water, your pumps may come flooded or dry up.
