Press Shift + Bank D (synth init) then press Shift + Sound Init (button ot the right of the Volume Level in synth section) You should end up with a clean sawtooth. At least that's how it works with my 2015 Nord S2 EX. Thanks for this video.

Thanks! This helped a ton to learn what all these functions did, and how to start with a clean sound. Appreciate the effort you put in.

BP is short for Band Pass. A Band Pass Filter only accepts frequencies within a certain range. The Freq knob on the stage 2 doesn't actually open and close the filter, it sweeps across the EQ "bands"

Thanks for the video. Can you do one on the synthesizer samples and how to use/modify them.

@ 1:30, is there automatically 2 x OCS's sounding TOGETHER when you call up the SYNTH SECTION please? Rather than: call up and create OSC_1, then call up and create OSC_2, and finally MIX/BLEND them together (like you would do in the traditional MIXER section)?

BP = band pass, cuts lows and highs, lets mid-range frequencies pass.

Alexander Nagel Yes, it's a sort of OPPOSITE to NOTCH.

Does the LFO and MOD panels only control PITCH? Also, I suspect that the MOD panel may only work if you do NOT have the HOLD button depressed?
@martinrerolle19213 жыл бұрын
No. I don't think this guy knows what he was doing. He's been showing the LFO and MOD envelope modulating the shape, and because the shape modulation was set to detuning this is what happened. In general you could use it to other modulations of shape which would be more relevant. For the mod envelope, he didn't properly demonstrate, yeah, because the envelope is defined when you hit the key, not when you hold the sound. The LFO and mod env can also impact the filter, so this is another entirely new area. Anyway it's been five years since you've asked this but it may be useful to future viewers, if any. This tutorial wasn't great.

Hello! Great tutorial.can you do some more explanations about the ns2 synth section. I've been willing to make a synth sound like the one used in Snarky Puppy's song album "Culcha Vulcha", song "Big Ugly" after 4:50min of this song. Thanks in advance.

It's strange that you use the detune parameter to change the semi-tones. How do you do proper detune?
@wowisms8 жыл бұрын
+Robbinsffxi A serious shortcoming of the Nord is the lack of fine detune button. I've only had mine for a week or so, so I'm still working out how to get around the limitations... Sadly I've been unable to detune two samples from within the synth section. Not so good for a $3-$4k keyboard. In it's defense however, it is a superb live performance tool.

didn't quite catch how you chose an empty bank…….please give me a clue
@Gmanisax9 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I sold the board to get something a little more practical. If I remember correctly, there are no empty banks on the Nord. You can choose a band you don't use and use the "initialize" button to give you a clean slate to work with. The manual can elaborate more on this. Good luck buddy!
@wowisms8 жыл бұрын
+spymass There are 4 banks on the Stage 2, - A,B,C and D. When re-set to factory default all of bank D is a duplicate of bank A. I suggest storing new sounds on bank D if you wish to preserve the original sound set. When you press "Store" or "Store As" you are given the opportunity to save to any bank, page and slot (4 banks of 20 pages x 5 slots).
