Hey Marc! I have been following your videos for a while learning the synth engine through your very well structured and clear guides. My gigs are primarily church/worship based so through your videos I already made some sweet pads combined with pianos and EPs. I used some samples I made in the VST Omnisphere and mapped them to my Nord Stage 3. But through this video I am yet again surprised by the power of the synth engine! So thanks again, I have hours of exploring to do!

@@MyKeysToMusic Yeah. The electro is plenty powerful by itself, but I think that's what separates the stage from the electro. Definitely a useful tool none the less!

Ben Maxwell For sure a useful tool and the pianos and organs are just as stunning. I also like the reduced weight. The Electros have their place and are a gigging musician's workhorse. The Electro 5 is still my main board on stage because of the handy set-list option and semi-weighted keys and perfect 73 key size. Don't get me wrong, I love the Nord Stage 3 and use it on gigs as well, but really enjoying using it more in the studio as the main KZbin content machine.

@@MyKeysToMusic I totally agree! I absolutely love my NE6. It's just the right size and weight for putting in it's soft case and taking to a gig or live event and having all those high quality samples just reassures you that you're going to get an awesome sound every time. Couldn't ask for more really (well... Maybe a setlist mode but you can't have everything! 😊)

Yes sir... I miss my nord stage 2. i miss the morphing function.. only reason i sold it because of the piano memory.. My Electro 5d has a bigger memory but, i missed the other features of the stage.. 😭😭. I’ll get another nord stage someday, maybe stage 5 or stage 6 if God willing..

@WilliamKarabelSR Hey William, I would say that the answer to this is mostly "Yes." Nord has "exclusive" rights to the Mellotron library of sounds, which have been sampled and made available on most Nord keyboards. Therefore, you could incorporate those Mellotron sounds and mix them with the other engines (think Stage 3/4), such as organ and synth, to provide you with the necessary "Genesis Tapestry" of sound that will suit most occasions! Also, note that Nord sprinkles these Mellotron sounds here and there on a given keyboard. I have yet to see the full collection installed out of the box on any Nord keyboard. In other words, if you want to exercise the full potential of the Mellotron, you'll have to go to the Nord website, review the library, and then install what you need on your keyboard. Pro Tip: Genesis is unique in that Tony Banks uses a lot of organ sounds through a phaser/flanger. I'd be remiss in not mentioning that. So, if you happen to own a Nord keyboard like an Electro or a Stage, you get a big part of the Genesis sound simply by using the organ with a phaser/flanger effect, thereby relieving your synth for other important Genesis sound duties. Along those same lines, Tony uses a fair amount of "Digital Piano" throughout the music, which can be potentially mimicked using the "EP" pianos from the standard Nord piano engine.

Hello E-Learning Physique. A few people ask that same exact question. I'm sure that if you take the course you'll know a lot more about your Stage 2 than you did prior as many of the concepts are the same. But of course, it won't be an exact perfect experience since the two keyboards are different in some key areas - especially with the synth engine. Hi Alan! Welcome to the world of Nord. The sounds you are hearing on this video were designed specifically to work with the Nord Stage 3 and require the full synth engine and related features only available on the Stage 3. So, unfortunately, this same setup is not available for the Nord Electro 6. Do you own a Nord keyboard yet?

Hi Marc ! I've been following you on youtube and your videos are very helpful for keyboardist using Nord stage and the nord Electro. I've learnt alot since your videos are specifically on the keyboards and their potential.. Im a new nord user from India and i was just wondering if the nord stage 3 will work in India regarding the pupper supply.. i got my nord yesterday from the US and i tested it in Nairobi Kenya since im here for a conference however i cant turn it on and im assuming maybe its because of the voltage output.. but il be taking my Nord to India so i was wondering if i can turn it on in India. Hi, I have a nord stage 3 and the Sonic Choir file has a different extension. Is this .ns3fb extension compatible?

Hi Hylton Jr. Great question. The file I uploaded is actually a "bundle" and it has a "b" at the end of the extension. So, the bundle includes the program settings as well as the necessary piano, synth, and samples (the bundle) in order to ensure everyone gets all the components of this sound. If you were to load this bundle (which I assume you have), and then simply export the program only, it will have a different extension perhaps ending in a "p". If you export it as a bundle yourself, you'll see that the extension now ends with a "b". Basically, there are multiple types of files available for your Nord keyboard depending on if your working with Programs, Samples, Synth Settings, Piano Samples or Bundles. Hey Marc! Dang this is amazing! Thanks alot for this! Question: I play my Royal Grand XL piano on the stage 3 and it doesnt seem to sound as good as the sweet water commercials/demos. I tried it with good headphones and it's better, but still not so good. You have any special setting for a good piano sound? I'm leaning to like worship sounds about like yours y'know? Thanks

Hi Alex. Thanks for your kind comments! Interesting about the sound. Try another pair of headphones and be sure to connect them directly to the keyboard itself. Then make sure you're not accidentally in "mono" mode in the piano section. That will make it sound a lot worse if you're using headphones. Keep and eye on the EQ too. If you use any of the presets, they make a big impact on the sound (and sometimes make it sound worse depending on the conditions). Hmm, now I'm starting to wonder if there was additional sound processing with the Nord video happening that we don't know about? FYI: I haven't spent too much timing double checking this on this end so I cant' say that I paid attention to notice the difference specific to the piano. @@MyKeysToMusic Yea I think I found out the problem. Maybe it's because the speakers are not pointing at my ears? We have a surround system so i have only 2 little speakers from my back pointing at me so I'm not sure if that is the problem...
