There's a solid foundation for the progression of every section of the piece. Listen critically and you'll notice the repetitions in between.

I came down to this one just curious (lots of exotic dressing on youtube and not much going on, I thought) but Wow... these girls kick really hard and powerful, and and all of the exotic Shaka ZUlu dressing on the bass player actually is up to the out of this world playing. My question is: does he ever play slow? Fast is good, he can do it, and no one doubts it anymore, but when at every performance he plays fast, ahmmmm, from so many quickly eaten notes you can choke on your ears... Play slowly at least once, not even slowly, play less often, play 3 notes with feeling, touch the soul, pause, then again 4 notes tastefully, deliciously. But it’s like he’s always late for his flight...

I’m sure he does depending on the arrangement of the song and tempo or when he is teaching. Is not the problem about him playing fast he just improvises, soloing, and really expressing himself which is very natural. Quennel Gaskin played fast a lot but it felt good listening because the player is actually expressing himself or herself. The only way I see it a problem if he’s accompanying an artist then you could argue and say he’s too busy and not really playing the song.
