Going "all in" is a strategy that some gamblers use, particularly when they are very confident they have a winning hand. They bet everything they have on that single moment, and either they are going to win spectacularly, or they are going to lose everything.
Whether this is a sound gambling strategy is debatable, but what is certain is that this is NOT a good fighting strategy. In a fight, you stand to lose a lot more than just some gaming chips if you've overestimated your hand.
Wing Chun is the antithesis of the "all in" approach - we don't aim to overcommit in our movements or strikes, we don't underestimate our opponent so we keep striking them until they are down for good.
But, without realising it, many beginners still go "all in" in one aspect of their Wing Chun practise. They go "all in" when they place all their "bets" on their hand without thinking much of their elbow.
In this video, I show that instead of taking the high risk "all in" approach, by placing equal emphasis on both your elbow AND your hand (i.e, having a 50:50 focus in your mind, not by physical effort), then you can improve your ability to attack, defend and control your opponent in Wing Chun.
