Very interesting video. Nice that you caught somebody’s first solo

Just found this - thank you . . . it really brought back the memories. I flew at Tibenham for a number of summers in the early 1980's - I did my first solo in the blue K13 that appears in this video, also flew the red one in this vid on a number of occasions - great memories of a wonderful and very friendly flying club. The yellow tug plane is a Rollestone Condor if I remember correctly . . . went up in that a few times as well - I remember a tug pilot with the nickname El-Sid, and flying around propped up on one wing! I think the motor glider in the video was a Grob and just coming in as I came to the end of my flying days there . . . previously they had a lovely red Super Falke - remember doing a couple of X-countries in that, including flying over my grandma's house in Cromer. I remember with fond affection CFI Woody and Mike Bean among others . . . thanks for the memories John. Paul Norman

Thanks for your comments, Paul. Lovely to read your memories. I flew at Tibenham, mainly on Thursdays 1986-95 having first solo'd with the cadets in the 70s. I would have loved to have gone up in the Condor but had cross country training and check flights in the club's Super Falke powered glider. Last year, I took Grum (Graham Ashworth) for a flight in my microlight and he kindly invited me to the 60th anniversary celebration lunch at Tibenham where I saw Woody, Mike and a few old faces. Like you, I was lucky enough to have flying experiences at Tib that I'll treasure forever. All the best, John
