Oh my gawd....them bassess are SICK!!!!! The whole drumline..sounds great as always!! #1
@TheDragonmaster1813 жыл бұрын
this was excellent. it wouldve sounded better outside on the football feild though since the sound would have some where to go. MMDFS is one of the best HBCU lines out there. i would like to see these guys go up against TxSU FUNK TRAIN
@krumpboiruthless14 жыл бұрын
wooooww MDFS definitely one of their best shows. im sooo glad i can hear the bassline alone and hear them good!! sooo, can the first tonal played lend me his wrists please?? lol great show!!

@bluephi182k yea and again u have a point, but consider the fact that even tho SCSU is a show style line, they have incorporate corp style chopping in their shows, prime example, the 1st Performance from Warren County 2009, they still chopped and play their usual type style

Both lines did ok. IMO, I think this is an apple vs orange arguement that'll never be solved. It just depends on your taste. MD entertained but were dirty in some spots, and BBI chopped it up like no tomorrow but a newborn could've slept in the crowd. At the end of the day both lines could've done a little better, but the sad thing about it is they're still light years ahead of most lines on these days.
@Askanison2912 жыл бұрын
Yeah they did..in the very early 80's before they started using Tonal bases. But with the change and then of course with the multi-tenors there was no need for them. The soundscape evolved. But we still have them in the alumni band though.
@Mrunbiased114 жыл бұрын
BBI was more technical and was clean as heck. I love being entertained but give me clean and technical anyday. BBI took this one but MD represented as well.

@blkplaya989114 жыл бұрын
@Alderan2008 yes they BBI was actually cleaner. MDFS was entertaining you say? Ahh Ha. You mean they were more Cold Steelish. Their quints were the only thing that stood out in their routine, but to me BBI played with a purpose and the crowd was more appreciative of that.

My opinion, i say dat the battle between MDFS and BBI is a draw.......technical standpoint, BBI all day long, entertainment wise, MDFS got it, i love both drumlines, mainly BBI cuz dats wat i came up watching and playing, and MDFS captured me with all the grooves, and bass drum solos, but to me on the most part, its about giving the crowd a show and thats what MDFS did, if u really listen to the crowds reaction to BBI, it was dead, but of course, dey gonna make noise for the home team
@Askanison2914 жыл бұрын
@ced12 Man plz..they're still more technically sound than BBI AND you mean other HBCU drumlines are trying to emulate MD...check your facts and history.
@NCzProdigy91012 жыл бұрын
@bdbcorp depends where you are from. Down south Show style/High stepping marching bands call them tenors or single tenors. Not saying you are wrong. But its all where u are from.
@AKINGSKYD14 жыл бұрын
@RANSOMPAIDFOR ....MD defenitely could've been cleaner but its obvious that their show had a bit more entertainment than BBI. You can clearly hear the crowd more during their show than BBI. Not saying it's a bad thing....just saying.

SCSU take note... You guys are very very good. notices the slow griws ...Notice there isnt overplaying by the entire line every beat of the measure so the parts can be heard cleanly. Notice who the drumes are tuned. SCSU is great but its the small thins that make the difference between the two. SCSU is the only thing stopping themselves from being the bEST. drop a base or two and clean up the sound of them. Be more creative and u got the crown hands down. Until then MDFS it is
@dsmalls10014 жыл бұрын
@Askanison no offense but im a member of scsu drumline...and we play way more difficult stuff then u think.. our show was dedicated to a fallen member and understand we are a meac drumline, not a dci drumline. we dont try to emulate them, but even nsu fans say they took a L ..so it is wat it is
@silkaem13 жыл бұрын
No disrespect to the other drumlines MDFS battles throughout the seasons, but I've noticed those lines tend to sound like NOISE to be... It's loud, it's overbearing, sometimes boring and unorganized. With MD, I know what I'm going to get: clarity!!!

@daphen0m.....Good point. Lines can't please everybody these days. Like I told some guy before, ScoJo could drop from the sky and chop cleaner than a brand new white T-shirt with these guysand somebody will still find some sort-of loophole.

All due respect...if MD added tenors to the line I think there would be an uprising. LOL

@ced12 Thank you Ced..thanx for showing us where you are...just so you know MDFS will completely embarrass the majority of most HBCU lines if they straight got down to it and all of y'all know it. It touches a nerve, thats ok I get it. But dont let your pride make you look silly. MD was being entertaining for the crowd. Its funny how folks would say.."y'all were technical but not entertaining" Now when they entertain your arses its the other way around..I get it now..and so does MD trust me.

@dsmalls100...BBI cleaner than MDFS please LMAO.......MDFS put on a drum clinic down there...they were way cleaner and way more entertaining. It was too much muddy mess going on mixed with tenor drums and kettle drums.

Tuning drums..1st of all..MDFS have better drums than SCSU...material...SCSU had harder material..especially their snares. MDFS played at the same tempo almost the entire show...put SCSU on a set of PEARLS..and let them play the show again .SCSU was def cleaner. But..I def don't see ANY OTHER HBCU DLINE PLAYING WITH THESE 2LINES..BCU will be the closest if so...................
