Exactly what I was looking for ,thanks ,,,I so remember those mills around Norfolk still working as a kid ,,never given them a thought before ,,,and so nice to see pictures of the canal and learn so much of its history ,,I especially like the proper old Norfolk boys with the thick accent ,I spent my youth in Suffolk and then Norfolk and I feel so much of a connection with that area ,,,strange as I live in Spain and Morocco ,but I sometimes yearn for the beauty of Norfolk and Suffolk particularly the Broads as I am current in Morocco on my yacht ,I moved to cowes iow 30 years ago and it’s also one of my happy places

Very interesting. I have been as far as you can navigate on the river Ant. It would be great if they could open up the entire canal so you could go further, even if it was only in a small boat. I guess that probably wont happen in my lifetime though.

You can now take canal boat trips most Sundays from Bridge right up to Bacton Wood Lock - take a look at our website or Facebook page www.nwdct.org

At 18:11, I got to this point in about 1997. I used an old OS map and a new one.

This is an excellent and informative documentary. When there is back-ground music it is too high in volume and makes the commentary difficult to hear.

Royston Bridge. Having been re-built to take the heavy traffic to the new Bacton Gas Terminal needs re-building to accommodate its original purpose: The North Walsham and Dilham Canal. This will be an expensive proposition BUT it would certainly be worth approaching the Bacton Gas Terminal for funds! The Gas Terminal is very approachable for local funding.

I was trying to find access to the last locks at five and six after Swafield. Can you access these at all as they are the last two locks to see?

Boat Life Vlogger The top two locks are on private land owned by Mickey Starling, who operates the haulage company whose depot is close to the location.

I got to these 2 locks in about '97. I was using an OS map from (I think) the early '60s an so just proceeded to walk across a field until I crossed the canal route. I soon found the locks. The problem is, much of these locks are so overgrown with weeds etc. seeing anything interesting is quite difficult and you also have to be aware of your safety too.
