On March 25th 1987, Norm and Bob stop by the David Letterman show to show David how to build to screen panels. Norm does most of the work while Bob and David try to help him.

Bits like this are what made David Letterman worth staying up late for. Fond memories from back in college

The high pitch whistle sound makes it so much more enjoyable.

Look! Norm has a house built before Bob and Dave have figured out what a hammer is!

nice use of time, I like Norms way to stretch out the screen material I'll have to try that. and I've been doing one window screen at a time. This looks like it works better. Compared to the aluminum one's and as fast as you can make these out of wood no reason not to put screens on the house. Thanks Norm!

RIP (1980-1989)... to me, the departure of Bob Vila from This Old House was, in a way, similar to Pat Sajak quitting the daytime version of Wheel of Fortune to host a short-lived late-night talk show.

Norm is a carpentry god. Bob's pretending he can use a tape measure.
