mightisright - Norm lays down a false pre-interview & never goes to that expected talk during interviews. He said he doesn’t like the host to know what’s coming in advance. Letterman & Conan figures this out waaay back & now they just skip the preinterview. I don’t think Kimmel was as wise to it at this point.

@@PyroNexus22 Norm's arguing that it's better to be able to binge watch a show without the cliffhangers and waiting a week for the next episode. Jimmy says it's fun since you can discuss what happened with friends. Norm's book club answer refers to the fact that a book club is where you're able to discuss something that everyone read in their own spare time. His point is that he doesn't care for talking about what's going on with the show, he just wants to see the whole thing. Which is consistent with his point about not wanting to have to think about or guess what the ending is.

+AJ Patrick That is without question the setup they agreed on in rehearsal. So much of comedy is switching sides. I think they wanted to make it more like Norm was the host.

Nah, Norm likes to fuck with late night show hosts. You can hear Conan talk about it a lot, when people ask him about Norm, as well as Norm talking about it himself. And of course you can watch Letterman and his hysterical laughter when Norm pulls a 180 at his setups.

Once again, this just goes to show how good Conan is at his job.

True But it's also because Norm respected Conan, so he didn't (or couldn't) ever steamroll him like this
@CircuitRider2 жыл бұрын
@@leadnitrate2194 yeah that’s exactly it. It’s actually fascinating how well Norm would change his material and general approach depending on what show he was on (Letterman, Leno, Conan, etc). He only tends to go for the “steamroll” approach for the guys he doesn’t revere much at all, or sometimes on Leno just because Leno’s so laid-back and hands-off anyway that it works.

I have no idea why, but Norm’s pacing walk-out is hilarious
