Suggest, learn to look at your email headers. Scammers can fake emails so the email looks like they come from one domain, but it's really not.

The banks don't make it easy to report compromised accounts. Sometimes I have scammers lead with bank account numbers. I always call the bank they belong to. Sometimes it takes me an hour to get someone on the phone that will even take the report.

I've always wondered if there was a safer way to buy cars and motorcycles online. Haven't heard of a professional middle man that a buyer can use safely.

Ebay has an option to use an escrow company to handle the transaction. I bought a car using that method. It was a good experience.

There are some escrow options but then you still have to trust the escrow company. Plus they tend to be VERY expensive.

Not necessarily. The first thing I can think of here is that their username is the same as it is on a different site that doesn't keep the email private., and the scammer was able to find their email there.

Yeah, I think they can figure out some usernames and emails pretty easily. I've done it before when I wanted to email someone on BaT.

Contact a Federal agency who handle this and shut them down ( Fraud) I'm here in the D.C. Metro Area.. No costs to you..
