I have the same spec, just red accents right down to the girodisk aftermarket rotors. It may not feel quite as fast as 911s from butt feel, but i spent a lot of time on track, with groups of Porsches in particular, and these cars are consistently nearly as fast as new 911 GTS's and consistently slightly faster/same as 997 version GT3RS. OG gt4 = new 911gts speedwise. Thats nearly 100hp down on a current day gts but lapping tracks at the same pace . So especially for someone looking to get out on track or wants handling capability as first on their list they should pick this up. It punches way above its pricepoint.

Love my Cayman and love the GT4 platform, only 2 complaints with the launch year model; too high a gearing and no axel lift. Great review!

Yeah those would be good changes

Regarding whether or not it has been on track. The only thing that is know to wear on track with these, is the clutch. I have changed one in mine, but it is a "beater car" that I let everyone drive and it has been used to learn several people track driving.

Yeah seems like the rest is typical consumables for track use

Caymans punch above it’s price point. That’s from base to GT4 RS🏎

@@williamjackson5357 No. I have driven the base and S 718, and those are too expensive for what they are.

Nice car, good luck with the sale. I solved the sitting on my wallet problem, I've taken it out of my pocket and put it in the door pocket for decades now. Much more comfortable. I agree on the better balance with the mid engine. The only 911 I ever drove was an older air cooled one and it was very tail happy.
@normalguysupercar3 ай бұрын
Yeah I normally move it to the front pocket on long drives

Dan, why does anyone care about overrevs??? We overrev our Ferraris on a daily basis?!?!? You mean to tell me that this Porsche engine can't take it??? Then what is the point??? And people get mad when it's tracked??? Sheesh, Porsche peeps I swear...

@@normalguysupercar Only mod (aside from exhaust) to make it perfect would be the gear ratio change or goes ball to the wall and do the stroked 4.5L engine mod and get a GT3 for half the cost.

Love my Cayman. Full Soul Exhaust. Done a number of rallies and have had a lot of air cooled 911 owners say my car makes a wonderful sound and wished they could get an exhaust sound like mine out of their car. Even the stock sport seats will dig your wallet into your butt. I always take mine out on longer drives.

Very nice spec, I don’t think that one’s gonna be around long. I have the same problem with my wallet sometimes the big differences I’ve got 1s and 5s you’ve probably got 50s and 100s…lol

Heard of them but haven't used them so I don't really have an opinion on them. I would say I think it makes sense to have someone who knows the car model specifically vs generalized knowledge of cars.

This is still one of my all time favs. I think I have 80k km on mine and at least 25k of those are track. I can't imagine selling it. Great gearbox, the 918 seats are perfect and it just sounds cool out of the box. That is with the factory sports exhaust though.
