Norm's staff be on to something. Even though Gibson didn't bring down rock-n-roll in 1959 (somebody else did), they may be the reason rock got resurrected in 1963 without it rockabilly roots. It was those PAFs Gibson worshiped that kept rockabilly in it's grave until Brian Setzer plugged in a guitar with filtertrons in the 1980's about. PAFs are no good for vintage rockabilly. But we may never know what filtertrons would sound like in a Gibson hollowbodied archtop. Never.

@@whimpypatrol5503 these babies are excellent jazz guitars
@whimpypatrol5503 Жыл бұрын
@pgroove163 Yes, inserted PAFs in a carved Gibson archtop given the right picking technique yields perhaps the greatest jazz guitar tones ever, such as Kenny Burrell's midnight blue and even Wes Montgomery's commercial recordings. But the price of Gibson archtops is for ultra wealthy dreamers, collectors, and merchants to put in display cases and vaults. Even if such were not, getting those great jazz tones out of the recording studio in front of a live audience is a monumental challenge.

I love it!! Another excellent guitar and Mark video. Many people I know that like rock all like solid bodies. I have discovered for myself that semi-hollow guitars get a variety of awesome rock tones. My ES is modified with pickups I wound myself and various wiring styles I tried, which I created a monster!!
